Adultery Rubika - The woman with the mic
#9
Chapter-2

There he stands in front of her. The man who was so popular among the girls in college, not for her looks or body, but for her intelligence and revolutionary thinking about the way media reporting should be. Despite coming from a Zamidar (land lords)  family, he always lived a very modest life; even now, he was wearing a plain t-shirt and old faded jeans with chappals.

Rubika felt like a college girl again. Her heart beat raced up as she found her college crush standing in front of her after so many years. She quickly remembered how girls from her batch used to flirt with him all the time, but he never showed any interest in those girls since he already had a Bengali girl, Richa, as her girlfriend, and he was very loyal to her.

“What are you doing here?” Abhishek finally asked when he saw Rubika in deep thought.

His voice brought Rubika back to the present, and she quickly replied, “I am here to cover the Bihar election.” She grabbed her ID card, which was hanging over her boobs, and showed it to him.

“It's so nice to see you working in a big news channel. If you don’t mind, there is a coffeehouse around the corner. Let's have a cup of coffee together and discuss what's up with our lives,” Abhishek offered. Rubika was more than happy to spend some time with the man who was part of diffrent type of fantasies among her batchmates.

“So, how long are you going to be in Bihar?” Abhishek asked once both of them got settled in their chairs.

“Well....., I... will be covering the whole election process, so Next month and a half, Bihar is going to be my home. For the first time, I am covering an election from the ground and showing the Real Bihar to the whole Country, so I am very excited.” Rubika replied cheekily; she felt like she was on a date with her crush.

“That sounds so interesting, but I am afraid you won't be able to do that,” Abhishek said.

“Why so?” Rubika asked.

“Because the type of coverage TV media is doing these days can hardly be called ground reporting.” Abhishek paused to sip his coffee, then he continued, “The Only Thing TV media do in the name of ground reporting is to visit famous eating joints and cover famous food items and do interviews with top leaders, but that is not Bihar. Real Bihar lives in rural areas, who face the most difficult situations and live miserably. You will find real issues in Villages, not in the city. All you TV reporters do in to chase Viral content.”

There was a moment of silence after Abhishek’s monologue.

“I completely agree with you, it's sad, but that's how TV media work these days,” Rubika said.

“I know that's why I have an offer for you.”

“Offer? It seems you are up to something. What is it?” Rubika asked; she was very curious.

“Well, I joined a top TV media house after completing my graduation in mass communication. I wanted to show real issues, but they expelled me, saying that ‘their channel was not the right kind of platform for the type of reporting I wanted to do’, i guess what they actually can’t say was that they didn’t want to upset the people who are in power. That's how TV media works, talk positively about the government and don't ask tough questions.” Abhishek looked very angry with the TV media. He took a few moments to compose himself.

“When I got no support from TV media houses as they kind of blacklisted me, so then I started my own YouTube news channel, where I report the real issues and expose corruption.” Rubika noticed Abhishek's voice glow when he started talking about his YouTube channel.

“You always were a rebel, fighting against the system,” Rubika said.
“Yeah, that's what gives me satisfaction.”

“You said you had an exciting offer for me?”

“Yeah, I am going to cover real Bihar, the rural Bihar, and on the way I will expose many corrupt politicians, so miss Rubika, do you want to join me in this journey?” Abhishek asked.

“Well....yeah...but...” Rubika was confused about what to say.

“I know, you have your job. I am not asking you to quit your job. You can travel with me, do your TV reporting in the morning, then we can do actual ground reporting by reaching out to the poor people of Bihar and do some sting operations on dirty politicians. I don't want you to rush to any decision; take your time.” Abhishek suggested.

“Yes, I would love to join you in the mission of true investigative journalism.” Rubika was more than happy to agree with his plan, but she was not sure whether she actually wanted to do real journalism or if she secretly wanted to spend some time with her college crush.
