“I can’t sit here,” he thought. “Not really.” But then, his hand tightened around the balm, and he took another step. And then, as though to defy that inner warning, he sat. He sat on her bed.
The moment his weight pressed into the soft sheets, it felt like the room shifted. The proximity, the tension, everything felt more intense.
Her bed.
He could sense the history of it, the echo of Amit’s presence there. But here he was, sitting on it, just inches away from Priya. It felt wrong in the best possible way. He wasn’t sure what had led him to this point, but it was like a small, reckless leap, a choice he couldn't take back.
Priya’s foot rested gently in his lap, and he couldn’t help but notice the way her soft skin pressed into him. The curve of her ankle, the delicate arch of her foot, it was as if the very air between them was thickening, blurring the lines between caring for her and wanting something more.
“Don’t make this about you, Ravi,” his mind whispered, but his body didn’t listen.
He could feel the way his fingers trembled slightly as he unapologetically touched her skin, brushing against her soft calf as he gently applied the balm.
The warmth of her skin against his was intoxicating, too intimate, too close for comfort. The sensation felt like an invasion, but at the same time, it felt like he was exactly where he was meant to be.
His fingers, trembling as they worked, barely grazed the sensitive skin of her leg. Every movement, every touch, sent a shock through him, making his chest tighten with something he couldn’t name.
He wasn’t just treating her injury; he was memorizing the feel of her, the warmth of her skin beneath his touch, the pulse of life beneath her delicate surface. Each stroke of his fingers over her calf, so gentle and soft, felt like he was peeling back layers of himself, layers of her.
The smell of the balm, faintly medicinal, hung in the air, but all Ravi could focus on was the scent of her, that sweet, intoxicating perfume that seemed to linger on her skin.
Her warmth, the soft, smooth surface of her skin, it was more than just physical. It felt like something deeper, something that was drawing them closer than they had ever been before.
