The Darkness Within
“I’ll get something for that ankle,” Ravi murmured, his voice low, thick with emotion, barely more than a whisper. His heart pounded in his chest as he stood, looking around the room, unsure where to begin.
He had never been in here before, and the space, her space, felt too intimate, too personal. It was her sanctuary, the place she shared with someone else, someone he couldn’t escape from in his mind. The thought of it made his chest tighten, a mix of jealousy and desire swirling inside him.
Priya’s eyes followed him, and for the first time, he noticed the way she was watching him, her gaze soft, but laden with unspoken things. “Can she feel it? Can she sense what’s happening inside me?” He wasn’t sure if she could, but she gave a faint, almost imperceptible nod, guiding him to the small cupboard near the corner.
“The balm is in the drawer,” she said, her voice quiet, but it seemed to echo through the room, thickening the air around them. He moved toward the drawer, the sensation of her eyes on him making his pulse spike.
There was something about being here in her bedroom, about touching things she touched, breathing the air she breathed, that made everything feel... too real, too close.
As he opened the drawer, his fingers brushed against the smooth wood, but he could hardly focus on the task. All he could think about was the warmth of her body just a few feet away, the way she had leaned into him earlier, the softness of her skin against his.
His breath hitched as he found the balm, the cool container somehow even more intimate than the room itself. The act of retrieving it felt like an excuse to stay close to her, to linger in this moment.
He closed the drawer, his mind racing as he turned toward the bed. “I don’t have to sit on her bed. I could kneel next to it, or bend down, and apply the balm that way. It’s not necessary to sit there.” But even as the thought crossed his mind, he knew.
He knew it was a choice he wanted to make. And somewhere deep inside, Priya seemed to want it too. The very idea of it was tempting, a line he wasn’t sure he should cross, but one he was drawn to.
