Auntie's Touch

Scene 44

My mother had just entered the room.

Jayashree: "Rina, he is sleeping calmly. He is a very good boy. Always curious."

Jayashree Aunty said softly, maintaining the cover of my exhaustion.

My Mom: "Yes, he asks me all sort of things. Yesterday, he was asking me — Why did you stop giving me milk? And I was like how can I explain these things."

My mother confessed, revealing her own confusion about handling my natural curiosity.

Jayashree smiling, "Don't worry, let's have some tea first, come I will show you around and I want you to meet Mansi."

Jayashree Aunty quickly guided the conversation, steering my mother away.

They slowly walked towards the living room, it had multiple sofas with a small table. Jayashree had already made some tea for all three of them. Mansi was sitting and waiting on the Sofa. Mansi Aunty rose as they entered, her posture elegant and welcoming.

Jayashree: "Rina, this is Mansi. She is one of my dearest friends and works with me on the project. Mansi, this is Rina, Sunny's mother."

Mansi: "It is such a pleasure to finally meet you, Rina. Jayashree has told me so much about your lovely family."

Mansi Aunty said, her voice warm, offering a sincere, non-committal greeting.

My Mom: "Mansi, it's nice to meet you too. You are so beautiful, Jayashree said you came from the city just to visit her."

My Mom said, her gaze lingering on Mansi Aunty's full, confident figure, acknowledging her unique attractiveness.

Mansi: "Yes, I came for the project, Rina. And to meet you. You see, Jayashree and I share a very strong bond between us."

My Mom was casual and friendly.
My Mom: "To Meet me? Jayashree is always helping me out."

Jayashree: "Yes, Rina. I don't want you to feel lonely anymore. I had a call with Mansi, and we were discussing and I told her about you. I know how difficult it is for us single mothers."

My Mom: "Mansi, you are also a single Mother?"

Mansi: "No, not me. My husband is in US for last 6 months. It gets difficult for me too but our project makes me not lonely."

Jayashree: "It's a project about shared comfort, Rina. We help each other through the tough times. We learned that the world expects us to hide our needs, but we don't believe in hiding."

Jayashree Aunty explained, introducing the core philosophy.

My Mom: "Shared comfort? That sounds lovely. I definitely need more comfort these days."

My Mom confessed, her earlier reserve melting away. She looked directly at Mansi Aunty. "But what does the project actually do?"

Mansi: "It's simple, Rina. It's about honesty. Jayashree told me you are a very generous and loving person."

Mansi Aunty returned the focus to my mother.
