Scene 6
Rohan was relieved.
Rohan: "Come on, Riya. Let's get your bag from the car quickly. Baba Ji, thank you so much! I will leave for the city tonight itself."
Baba Ji: Yes, your wife will be well looked after.
Riya, still feeling the intense, warm flood in her body from Baba Ji’s touch, struggled to stand, legs were shaking but she managed to stand up. She was terrified yet strangely excited by what was about to happen.
Both Rohan and Riya touched Baba Ji's feet, Riya shocked but Rohan pulled her outside the small room, near an old tree.
Rohan: "Riya, This is our ticket. We can have a family now."
He grabbed her shoulders, his grip tight and serious.
Rohan: "You are my everything, Riya. All this money, this big house, it means nothing without a child. If this one week, these rituals, if this makes you pregnant... I am happy. I am ready to do anything."
He let go of her shoulders and took her face in his hands, looking deep into her eyes. It was the most honest he had been in months.
Rohan: "I will not go back to the city. I will stay in a dharamshala (guesthouse) nearby for the whole week. I will be here, just down the hill. Don't worry about me. Everything is fine. You just focus on the Baba's instructions. Okay? This is for our future."
He gave her a quick, awkward kiss on the forehead. A kiss of duty, not passion.
Rohan: "I love you. I will come back. Be strong."
He turned and walked away towards the car. He didn't look back. He was putting his faith, and his wife, entirely in the hands of the powerful Baba.
Riya stood alone, clutching her small bag. Her husband, her only link to the familiar world, was gone. She felt a wave of loneliness wash over her, immediately followed by the thrilling, electric memory of Baba Ji’s strong fingers inside her. Fear and a forbidden excitement together.
She turned back towards the room where the Baba waited.
Rohan was relieved.
