They walked toward the shore, the rhythm of their steps syncing naturally, as if it were second nature. She could feel the warmth of him beside her, a presence she was still getting used to. As they passed pieces of driftwood, each accidental brush of their arms sent a spark that tingled along her skin. But it wasn’t just the physical closeness.
There was something else, something in the way their movements seemed to align, as if they’d been doing this for far longer than just five days. She couldn’t help but admire him, the way he worked with such ease, the quiet strength in everything he did. It made her feel something soft inside, something that felt too big to put into words.
Back at the hut, Naveen began tying the planks in place, his hands moving with practiced precision, muscles flexing under his shirt. Kavya positioned the planks, her fingers brushing his every so often as she steadied the wood.
Each touch sent a jolt through her, like an electric current that ran deeper than the surface. She didn’t pull away. In fact, she found herself lingering just a second longer than necessary, drinking in the way his hand moved, how steady and careful he was.
She couldn’t help but feel a little admiration for how he seemed to know exactly what to do, how he never hesitated, never questioned. There was something quietly magnetic about him.
At one point, as Kavya shifted to adjust the last piece of driftwood, her hand brushed the back of Naveen’s. The touch was fleeting, but it lingered between them, sending a warmth through her chest. She didn’t pull away immediately; instead, she let it stretch for a moment, her fingers lingering just long enough to feel the heat of his skin. Then, with a quiet breath, she stepped back, her pulse still quickening.
Naveen’s heart skipped as her hand grazed his, her touch was light, but it left an imprint, one he couldn’t shake.
He felt her warmth, even after she stepped away, and for a moment, he didn’t want to look at her, afraid that if he did, he might see something in her eyes that would break this delicate balance between them.
So, he focused on his work, keeping his hands steady as he tied another vine, all while feeling the warmth of her presence close by.
