## Update 64: The Decision (Avi and Meena Chachi)
Meena Chachi looked at me, her face a mask of urgent need. "Don't overthink this, Avi. You have had sex before. Now do it with me," she urged.
"That's different. You're different," I insisted, the word 'Chachi' screaming in my head.
"I am a woman just like them," she stood up, moving closer, her argument sharp and effective. "The only difference is that you consider me a mother. But do you want me to never become a mother? Think about it, Avi, am I wrong to ask this?" she pleaded, genuine desperation flooding her eyes.
"But..." I started, my mind reeling under the weight of her emotional appeal.
"Can't you even give this happiness to your Chachi? Can't you see this as helping your family?" she asked, her voice soft but demanding.
"I need some time. I'll think about it and tell you," I said, needing a moment to process the shocking proposition.
"What is there to think about?" she demanded, her voice tight with impatience.
"Is there no other way at all? No procedure?" I asked, hoping for an alternative that didn't involve me.
"If there was, don't you think Suman Chachi and Seema Chachi and I would have used it by now? We've tried everything for years," she replied, her finality shutting down that path.
"What if you don't become a mother with me?" I asked, my voice shaky, trying to find a loophole in the plan.
"That's a different matter. If I don't become a mother this month, we'll have to look for another way," she said simply.
"Then you'll have sex with someone else too?" I asked, a sudden surge of unwanted ownership making my tone sharp.
"I haven't thought about that. I haven't allowed myself to," she said.
"Why?"
"I only thought of you, Avi, when I planned all this and went to the Maharaj for the cover story," she confessed.
"So you won't have sex with any other man?" I insisted.
"No, I won't. You are our last, best hope," she said, her expression solemn.
I took a deep breath, testing her resolve one last time. "What if I refuse this plan completely?"
"Do you know what will happen if you do?" Her expression turned instantly cold and grave.
"What will happen?" I asked, a sense of dread creeping into my heart.
"Your Chacha will get married again. He is already talking about it. And after that, he'll keep marrying young wives until he has a son. Soon, this house will be full of new, Choti Chachis in front of you," she said, painting a dire picture of domestic chaos.
"Chacha won't do that. He loves you," I said, unable to believe his infidelity would be so immediate and public.
"You don't know your Chacha. I know how I have stopped him for six years with my constant attention. If I hadn't been so careful, you would have gotten six more Chachis in six years, and they would have kept coming." She leaned in, her voice low and conspiratorial. "I even stopped Suman Chachi and Seema Chachi from going to your Chacha. If Chacha had gone to them and they hadn't given him the sexual love I do, your Chacha would have strayed again. That's why I've kept a hold on him."
"But now the thought of getting married again has entered your Chacha's mind. Now it's all in your hands, Avi. Whatever you decide, think about it carefully and tell me," she concluded, placing the fate of the entire household on my shoulders.
"I still need some time to think," I replied, utterly overwhelmed.
"Look, we don't have much time for all three of us. After me, you have to do it with Suman Chachi and Seema Chachi as well, one week at a time," she reminded me.
"With them too?" I asked, my voice filled with surprise.
"Yes, we will all become mothers together, or none of us will," she stated, confirming the pact.
I started thinking about what Meena Chachi had said. The words hit me hard. I remembered what Pooja Bua and Neha Bua had often gossiped about. Bua would always taunt Chachi. Because she couldn't have a child, the women in the village didn't even call her to ceremonies anymore. They had stopped talking to her. And now Chacha was also thinking of getting married again.
*I have to listen to Chachi.* She has loved me like a mother, and now it's my turn to give her happiness. I was her last hope. If I refuse, she will be left alone to spend her life crying, watching new wives take her place. I made my decision and agreed.
"I need to ask you something before we begin," I said, my voice now firm.
"Tell me, I'm listening," she replied, her eyes bright with sudden hope.
"I will help you become a mother. But will we continue to do this after that? Will we stop once the pregnancy is confirmed?" I asked, needing clarity.
"That depends on you. If you want to, we'll continue after I'm pregnant. If not, we'll stop," she said, giving me the control I craved.
"When do we start?" I asked, committing myself fully.
"I'm ready to start today, right now," she said.
"What about Chacha? He's in the next room," I asked, nervously glancing at the wall.
"I've already had sex with him once tonight to ensure he's satisfied. After that, I gave him sleeping pills. He won't wake up until morning." She then gave a strict warning, her eyes sharp. "And yes, don't ever tell Chacha or anyone else about this."
"Okay." I stood up and moved toward her. I felt strange. Even with all the experience I had with Mona, Madam, Pooja Bua, and Rati, I was still nervous and uncertain about where to start with my Chachi. Meena Chachi understood my predicament. Talking was one thing, and the reality of the act was another. Meena Chachi was also visibly nervous, despite her earlier confidence.
