## Update 61: The Conditions (Avi and Meena Chachi)
Meena Chachi leaned back slightly, her curiosity still a physical weight in the air. "Is there anything else you haven't told me about?"
The confession had come this far; holding back now seemed foolish and dangerous. "There's Mangala Kaki's daughter, Rati. I was with her, too," I confessed, the words a low mumble against the silence.
Meena Chachi’s expression shifted quickly, filled with a mix of genuine shock and resigned exasperation. She shook her head slowly. "My God! Is that all, or is there more to tell? You've been a busy boy."
"No, that's it," I replied, exhaling a breath of pure, shaky relief. The last secret was out.
"You speak as if nothing happened at all," she said, her voice dropping to a serious, warning tone. "Four women in a matter of weeks, one of whom is married and the other is a cousin's sister. This is serious."
"I have told you everything that happened." I looked up at her, my voice thick with hope. "Now you won't tell Chacha, right? You promised."
She looked directly into my eyes, her gaze locking me in place. "I won't. But I have two conditions."
"I accept all your conditions," I said instantly, scrambling to my feet. I was desperate to put the fear behind me.
"First, listen to them," she replied, a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
"Mmm," I mumbled, my heart pounding in my chest.
"I think you've grown up now. What you did was wrong in one sense, but this is your age, Avi. The desire gets out of hand. You couldn't stop yourself. After one mistake, you just kept making more." She sighed, the severity of her judgment lessening.
"Now we can't change what has happened, but you must be careful in the future. I want no trouble with your father or your uncles," she added, her tone firm.
"Yes, Chachi," I said softly, my head still bowed in submission.
She straightened her posture, the change signaling the transition to business. "So, listen to my first condition: You have to tell me about everyone you have sex with, from this day forward. If there's any problem—pregnancy, rumors, or disease—I will handle it and ensure no one in the family is affected."
I felt a dizzying surge of exhilaration. This wasn't punishment; this was protection, power, and security for my secret life.
"I will tell you the second condition tomorrow." She lowered her voice again, a sly invitation curling in her tone. "And tonight, keep your room door slightly open tomorrow night. You won't be able to hear me when I come."
"Yes, Chachi." My heart raced with anticipation for the second condition and the promise of her visit. A thought suddenly occurred to me. "Can I ask you something?"
"Yes, ask," she replied.
"Aren't you angry with me?" I asked, looking up at her face, searching for a trace of true fury beneath her calm.
"I was, but..." she paused, her expression becoming complex, mixing thought and something darker. "I will tell you why I'm not angry tomorrow."
"Okay," I said, accepting the delay.
She stood by the door, her hand resting on the knob, ready to leave. "From now on, consider me your friend, Avi. Your secret keeper and your protector."
"Okay," I agreed, a genuine sense of gratitude replacing my terror completely.
"Now go to sleep," she instructed.
I suddenly remembered the catalyst for this whole terrifying conversation. "What about Madam's letter?"
Meena Chachi patted the pocket where she had slipped the paper. "I'll fulfill Madam's wish."
"Which wish?" I asked, genuinely confused about what final wish she meant.
"To burn the letter," she said, a hint of a dark, amused smile playing on her lips.
"Oh, yes. Please burn it," I said, feeling another wave of powerful, final relief wash over me. She nodded and slipped out, closing the door softly behind her.
I closed the door completely and leaned my forehead against the cool wood, my entire body relaxing, draining the tension of the last two days. The interrogation was over. I had confessed everything and not only escaped punishment but gained a powerful ally. I was safe, and tomorrow night, I would find out why.
