Well , you are conveniently seeing it only through one perspective which is why you feel only one person is suffering here.

The truth is both Hemant and Sonarika are the victims here , and the crazy part is Sonarika is falling for a relationship that was never genuine in the first place. Her entire affair and relationship with Vikram was orchestrated by Meghna , a person hell bent on ruining her. She used Sonarika and Vikram's feelings and vulnerability and bridged them to form this "relationship". Lets be real , on the storyline standpoint , right now if Sonarika learns about Meghna's devious plans , she will not only be shattered but broken beyond repair seeing everything around her was built on a lie. 

As for her suffering , she still does. Even now , after everything , her mind and heart still yearns for Hemant because according to her , him holding back in bed is the only flaw Sonarika sees in Hemant. Which is why she is trying to hold on , because she knows even though how good Vikram is , he cannot be a supportive partner like Hemant has always been. Her decisions lately has been her mental condition coming in full swing , Meghna has her in a twist and she is succumbing to her state. And right now she is loosing herself , loosing her identity , succumbing to Vikram's energy all over again.

And I definitely don't intend to showcase Hemant as a looser here , hell he is the most important character of the story. And he is going to go all out with Michael merging into Hemant's psyche. And there is some impressive surprises with him around women in the future thanks to his transformation. So we won't be getting Hemant walking around suffering crying for Sonarika's love anymore. Hemant Kumar is going all out , not bothered by a woman who always goes to Vikram over him. He has his own motivations and ambitions for the future.

And there is indeed a different pattern here because unlike the other stories where the husband fights for his love. This time , it will be the wife who will fight tooth and nail to reclaim her identity. Her eventual destination will be her redemption story, now whether does it have Hemant or not , only time will tell.
