The door creaked open, and Sharma stepped inside, his cotton night suit slightly rumpled, his eyes wide as they roamed her form.

“On a work trip,” she replied, her tone steady. “He'll be back in a few days.”

He moved to kiss her, his breath heavy with cigarette smoke. Madhuri turned her head, stopping him. “Not here,” she said, grabbing a mint from the counter and handing it to him. “Chew this. Come with me.” They quietly passed Abhi’s room as she led him to her bedroom, locking the door behind them.
