That evening, Madhuri returned home, her pride tempered by a gnawing restlessness. In the kitchen, she spotted her water bottle on the counter and froze, a sinking realization hitting her. "Damn it, I took the wrong bottle."
Disappointment curled in Madhuri’s chest, sharp and unexpected. Ishaan’s promise to Ramesh echoed in her mind, "Didn't he tell Ramesh he'll take care of me? Pchhh.. But now he is gone," her thoughts leaving her alone with her craving.
The night showed no signs of him and she pulled out her phone, her fingers hovering over the stalker’s chat. "Are you there? I wanna tell you something.” she typed, “From a shy wife, I see myself coming a long way. The fire you ignited helped me get promoted today," she texted, her heart thudding. No reply. The silence was deafening, her desire a weight pressing against her.
In her rush to escape from Ishaan, she’d grabbed plain water, not the potion-laced one. Panic flared, but she pushed it down. "I’ve gotten the deal done, haven’t I? That was what mattered."
She walked into the living room, sinking onto the couch. Abhi sprawled on the mat, engrossed in a video game, his controller clicking furiously. “Abhi,” she called, her voice softer than intended. “Where’s Ishaan?”
He didn’t look up. “He had some emergency meeting with Ms. Sherley. Said he’d be back late.”

She climbed into bed that night, the sheets cool against her skin. She closed her eyes, her body aching for release, but sleep claimed her, leaving her desires unanswered, at least for now.
