The office was a hive of tension when she arrived, the usual hum of keyboards replaced by hushed whispers. Mr. Roy summoned her to his cabin, where she found him sitting, his face etched with stress.
Standing across him was Suraj, the junior associate who’d always flirted with her before he switched teams, his usual cocky grin replaced by a nervous frown, his eyes red-rimmed and pleading.

“In the conference room,” Mr. Roy said, rubbing his temples. “With his legal team, and they’re coming on strong.”

“Madhuri, we’re in deep trouble,” Mr. Roy said, handling her few legal papers, his voice low but urgent.

“Suraj screwed up, big time. We’re handling a go-to-market strategy for Horizon Tech’s cloud platform, and this idiot sent a sensitive document to someone at Apex Solutions. Target customer segments, planned discounts, all the work is in it. It’s a breach of confidentiality, and Horizon’s CEO, Tim, is here from the US, threatening to sue us into oblivion.”
Suraj looked up, his voice cracking. “I didn’t mean to, Ma'am. It was an email mix-up. Please, you’ve got to help fix this. I’m begging you.”
Madhuri’s mind sharpened, the chaos of the morning giving way to her professional instincts. She placed a hand on the desk, her voice steady. “Calm down, both of you. Where’s the CEO now?”
“In the conference room,” Mr. Roy said, rubbing his temples. “With his legal team, and they’re coming on strong.”
Madhuri nodded, straightening her blazer. “I’ll handle it.”
