Act 1.4 Affair Before Marriage
=====================
Part 1 - The Apartment
(Raj is sitting on his sofa, his laptop balanced on his knees, typing furiously. Kavita walks in, wearing a beautiful dress. She stands in front of him for a full minute, but he doesn't look up.)
Kavita: (Sighing loudly) "Raj, can you even look at me for a second? Our wedding is one month away, and this is what you're like?"
Raj: (A tired smile, his eyes still on the screen) "Sorry, Kavita. Just let me finish these deadlines, and then I'll be all yours. I just have to deliver this one project."
Kavita: (Crossing her arms) "Project... project... Am I less important than your project? We are about to get married, and I feel like I'm not a priority in your life at all."
Raj: (He stops typing and rubs his forehead, finally looking at her.) "Kavita, please don't say that. You are my whole world. It's just... a lot of work right now. I'll manage everything. Trust me."
Kavita: "Trust you? Raj, I dressed up for you. I thought we could go out. Or even stay in. I don't care. I just want... you. Not the five minutes you can spare between emails."
Raj: "I know, and I'm sorry. I promise, after this week, it will all be different. We'll go on that long drive we talked about."
Kavita: "I don't want to wait a week to feel like your fiancée. I want to feel it now. Don't you want me, Raj? Look at me. Don't you feel anything?"
Raj: "Of course I do. You're beautiful. But Kavita, I have to be practical. This promotion depends on this project."
Kavita: (Her voice drops, becoming cold and quiet) "Fine. Be practical. But don't be surprised when your practicality leaves you with a very, very lonely bed."
(She turns and walks out of the room, leaving Raj staring after her, a look of helpless frustration on his face.)
Part 2 - The Phone Call
(Kavita is in her bedroom, pacing back and forth, phone pressed to her ear.)
Meera: "Hey Kavita, relax. Guys get a little busy before the wedding. It's normal. Why are you taking so much tension?"
Kavita: "Meera, it's not about him being busy. I feel like Raj doesn't understand me at all. I am craving his attention, I want him to be with me, but he's just drowned in his work. I... I feel like I need someone else who gets me."
Meera: (A short pause) "Whoa, Kavi. What are you saying... are you thinking of talking to someone else?"
Kavita: "Just talking... someone who understands... Raj is so calm, so gentle. But sometimes I feel like he doesn't even sense the fire inside me. He doesn't feel me at all."
Meera: "Kavita, he's a good guy. He's stable, he loves you."
Kavita: "He's a calm sea, Meera. And I'm a storm. The pandit was right. I want passion. I want intensity. I want someone to look at me and want to devour me, not schedule me in after a project deadline. His kindness feels... boring. It feels like he's trying to tame me."
Meera: "Be careful, Kavi. You're getting married in a month. Don't do anything stupid."
Kavita: "Being desired isn't stupid, Meera. Being ignored is."
Part 3 - The Coffee Shop & The Theatre
(The next evening. Kavita is at a bustling coffee shop with Arjun, a charming, handsome colleague. He leans forward, his eyes locked on hers, listening intently.)
Arjun: "Kavita, honestly, you deserve someone who gives you their complete attention. If this is how he is before the wedding, what's it going to be like after?"
Kavita: (She bites her lip, a thrill running through her. It’s not just his words, but the way he’s looking at her.) "Maybe you're right... I feel like maybe someone else is meant to understand me."
Arjun: "I understand you. I see you in the office. I see the energy you have. That passion shouldn't be wasted on someone staring at a laptop screen."
Kavita: "Really? You understand?"
Arjun: (Scoffs softly) "Practicality is the death of passion. You, Kavita, are all color and fire."
Kavita: (A genuine smile for the first time in days) "You really see that?"
Arjun: "I'd have to be blind not to. In fact...What do you say we be impractical right now?"
Kavita: "What do you mean?"
Arjun: "I mean, let's not go back to the office. Let's do something... spontaneous. There's a movie playing just around the corner. Let's go."
Kavita: (Her heart begins to pound) "Skip work? And go to a movie?"
Arjun: (Leaning in closer, his voice a low whisper) "Yeah. Let's go sit in the dark for a couple of hours."
(The scene shifts. They are in a dark movie theatre, sitting in the third row. The screen casts flickering shadows on their faces. Arjun's arm is resting on the back of Kavita's chair.)
Arjun: "Your skin is so soft. Softer than I imagined."
Kavita: (Whispering back, her voice trembling slightly) "Arjun..."
Arjun: "Shhh. We're just watching a movie. Tell me to stop if you want me to."
(His fingers lightly trace her collarbone, then dip lower. He unfastens the top button of her blouse.)
Kavita: (A soft gasp) "Someone might see..."
Arjun: "No one is looking at us. They're all looking at the screen. But I can't take my eyes off you."
(He unfastens another button. His hand slides inside, his palm flat against her warm skin, just above her bra.)
Arjun: "Your heart is racing. I can feel it. Do I make you nervous?"
Kavita: "Yes... no... I don't know... just... don't stop."
Arjun: "I wasn't planning on it."
(His fingers find the clasp of her bra at the front. With a soft click, it comes undone. He pushes the fabric of her blouse and bra aside, exposing her breast to the cool, dark air.)
Kavita: (A sharp intake of breath) "Oh..."
Arjun: "Perfect. Even more beautiful than I imagined."
(He leans in, his face close to hers, his breath warm on her cheek.)
Arjun: "I'm going to kiss you now, Kavita. Not your lips. Not yet."
(He lowers his head, his lips brushing against the swell of her breast. He kisses the soft skin gently, then his mouth moves with purpose towards her nipple.)
Kavita: (A low moan escapes her lips, and she grips the armrest) "Arjun... please..."
Arjun: "Please what? Please stop? Or please continue?"
Kavita: "Stop talking and take me..."
Arjun: "Okay..."
(He takes her nipple into his mouth. His tongue licks and teases before he begins to suck, gently at first, then with a growing, hungry intensity. Kavita's head falls back against the seat, her eyes squeezed shut.)
Kavita: "Mmmm... fuck... yes... just like that..."
Arjun: (Pulling away for a second, his voice a hoarse whisper against her wet skin) "You like that? You like being devoured right here in public?"
Kavita: "Yes... I love it... More..."
Arjun: "Your fiancé... does he do this for you? Does he worship you like this?"
Kavita: (A bitter, breathless laugh) "He... checks his emails..."
Arjun: "Forget him. He doesn't exist right now. It's just you and me. And this lovely, hard little nipple."
(He takes her back into his mouth, sucking harder this time, his other hand moving to her other breast, kneading it through her blouse.)
Kavita: (Moaning louder now, not caring who hears) "Oh God, Arjun... I'm getting so wet... Don't stop... please don't stop..."
Arjun: "I want to hear you. I want to taste you. I want to feel every part of that fire he's so afraid of. This is just the beginning, Kavita. I'm going to make you forget your own name."
Kavita: Oh... Arjun. You know how to love me.
