I went to Karunai Illam, a home for the destitute.
Mother Mercy, who runs the home, welcomed me and asked for details.
When I told her the reason I had come, she asked, “Why do you want to marry a girl who has no one?” Looking at her, I hid the truth that no one was willing to give me their daughter, and instead I lied saying, “It is my goal to give life to a girl without support.”
“Is that so?” she said thoughtfully, then called over a little girl standing nearby and instructed, “Go call Fari.”
After a short while, two girls who looked like cinema actresses came.

The other, fair as milk, slim, with graceful curves like a model, and a face resembling Tamannaah, said, “Did you call me, Mother?”—and I realized she was Fari.

Mother then told me, “This is Fari, and this is Fari’s friend Malar.” I also learned then that Fari was a '. girl and Malar was an Iyer (*****) girl.
