“If I fall asleep like this, will you be here when I wake up?”
Her words, so simple, carried with them the weight of everything unspoken.
Ravi’s breath caught in his throat, and for a moment, he forgot how to speak.
He leaned forward just a fraction, his eyes locked on hers, his pulse racing.
“Always,” he finally said, his voice thick with meaning.
She smiled softly, turning her face just enough that he could see the curve of her lips,
The play of shadows across her features.
“No touching, though,” she whispered, the teasing edge returning. “Promise?”
“Promise,” he replied, his voice steady despite the storm raging inside him.
“Not unless you forget to stop me.”
She exhaled a small laugh, a soft, almost melodic sound.
“Dangerous,” she murmured, her eyes slipping shut,
A hint of a smile still tugging at the corners of her lips.
And then the room was silent again, save for the sound of her breath, steady, slow
And Ravi sat there, motionless, watching her.
His heart thudded in his chest, his mind a whirl of thoughts he could hardly grasp.
He could feel the pull between them, the magnetic tension that neither could break, neither could resist.
But still, he remained where he was, each second stretching longer than the last.
Every moment was becoming a memory,
One that would stay with him long after the night ended,
Whether he wanted it to or not.
