“You know,” she began,
Her voice low and slow, as if savoring the sound of her own words,
“you never told me why you were staring at me earlier.”
Ravi blinked, caught off guard by the question.
His gaze flickered for just a moment, but then he met her eyes again,
The same warmth and mischief reflected in them.
“I wasn’t staring,” he replied softly, his voice a little rougher than he intended. “I was… stunned.”
She tilted her head, a glint of curiosity flickering behind her eyes,
But the playful smile remained. “Stunned? By what?”
Ravi leaned forward slightly, his elbows resting on his knees,
And the shift in his posture made the air feel even tighter between them.
“By you,” he said, his voice quiet but steady.
“The way you looked—when you came in. The crop top, the jeans, the way the light caught your skin just above your waist… It wasn’t just beautiful. It felt like I wasn’t supposed to be seeing it, like I was seeing something I wasn’t meant to.”
Her breath hitched, barely noticeable, but enough for Ravi to feel the change.
Her eyes softened, the teasing edges fading, replaced by something softer, more vulnerable.
She shifted slightly, bringing her arms closer to her body,
Almost as if instinctively trying to pull herself in.
But the intimacy between them only deepened, despite her attempt to retreat.
“That's… unfair,” she whispered, almost too quietly for him to hear.
But he heard it. Felt it.
“Why?” he asked, his voice thick with confusion.
He couldn’t understand why something so simple would have such an effect on her.
