9. Stumble

Geeta stepped into the classroom, the familiar scent of chalk dust and old books filling her nostrils. 

The students rose in unison, their cheerful "Good Morning" a cascade of young voices.  She bid them sit, and as the last rustle of movement settled, Bharat, too, took his seat, his gaze drawn to Geeta. She was a vision, radiant in a marigold-colored cotton saree, her presence as bright as the flower itself.

She placed her book on the table, turning to face them. Her eyes swept across the room, a quick assessment of her young charges, until they met Bharat’s. In that instant, her eyelids fluttered down in a gesture of enchanting shyness. Bharat, witnessing this subtle shift, chuckled to himself, a thoughtless, innocent sound.

A whirlwind of memories from the previous night assaulted Bharat's mind. Had he overstepped, or had she truly desired their intimacy? He'd yearned to bare his soul, to bridge the distance between them, to whisper his deepest desires. He hadn't expected her to yield so completely, to accept him in such a profound way. The delicate scent of her skin, the shy bite of her lip between her teeth, the sweet mingling of their mouths, the thrilling firmness of her slender waist in grip of his hands, the burgeoning excitement as his lips grazed her boobs – all the playful intimacy they’d shared had stolen his sleep. He’d surrendered his lips to her with an aching longing, and now, a new anticipation fluttered within him. What would she say when he returned home today? He couldn't bring himself to ask, to intrude upon her thoughts, yet the thought of being apart was unbearable.

Geeta, oblivious to Bharat's tumultuous inner world, knew only that the lesson must begin. A faint smile touched her lips as she considered a diversion from the usual curriculum. She pulled a chair close to the table, tucking her saree pallu into her waist with a practiced movement.

“Vikas, stand up…” Geeta’s voice, clear and resonant, cut through the quiet hum of the classroom.

Vikas, seated beside Bharat, sprang to his feet, hands clasped nervously, bracing himself for a complex formula.

“What do you want to become? What are your goals?” Geeta asked, her gaze gentle.

“I’ll do engineering, Miss. I like robots and artificial intelligence,” Vikas replied, a hint of pride in his voice.

“Hmm… Pranab, what about you?”

Pranab, from the second bench, piped up, “Miss, I like photography. I’ll do a photography course after I pass tenth grade.”

“Why? To photoshoot heroines?” Kaushik’s sarcastic taunt sliced through the air from the back of the room.

Geeta’s brow furrowed in displeasure. “Kaushik, stand up.”

Kaushik rose, a smug expression on his face.

“Tell me, what will you do?” Geeta challenged.

“I’ll become an IAS officer, Miss.”

Geeta’s voice sharpened. “IAS has an interview. Even if they record what you just said and show it, or if anyone from college tells them during verification that you used to mock people like this, you won’t be suitable for that job even if you get the first rank. To become an IAS, you need good character. Sit down.”

Bharat’s knees trembled on the other bench. He already struggled to meet Geeta's gaze, and now, the thought of revealing his own ambitions filled him with dread. What would she say?

“Chandana, you tell me?” Geeta’s eyes flickered to Bharat for a moment, but he kept his face down. A soft chuckle escaped her.

“I don’t have any, Miss,” Chandana admitted.

“What do you mean? You must have something. What do you plan to do after tenth?”

“I’ll study BIPC, Miss.”

“Oh, okay, sit down.”

The questions continued. Lavanya, when asked, also declared her intention to become an IAS officer. Geeta encouraged her to study hard before dismissing her. 

One by one, the students shared their aspirations.

“Vandana, what about you?”

“I’ll do an MBA and start my own business, Miss.”

“This is how it should be,” Geeta commended. “Everyone is IAS, IPS, doctor, engineer, all routine. Pranab, you said something very different. Nice.”

“Harish, what about you?”

“Am, Miss?” Harish mumbled, caught off guard.

“Give Vandana a partnership in business,” Geeta quipped, a playful laugh escaping her.

The class erupted in laughter, and Harish’s cheeks flushed crimson. He ducked his head, while Vandana, unable to stifle her own giggles, buried her face behind a book, thoroughly embarrassed.

“ Miss, I’ll become an ISRO scientist,” Harish finally managed, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Super, Harish. You study well, and you should study even more. You need to practice math thoroughly.”

“Thank you, Miss.”

Bharat remained slumped in his seat, fingers running through his hair, his face still averted.

“Ah!... Hero, stand up…” Geeta called out, her voice laced with amusement.

Bharat ignored her, hoping to remain unnoticed.

“Mr. Bharat, I’m talking to you… Oh, gentleman, get up, stand up.”

He jolted upright, fumbling a little, and stood. The class turned to him, a wave of laughter rippling through the room.

“Yes, Miss?” Bharat stammered.

“Tell me?”

“Uh…!”

“Are you in this world?” Geeta teased.

“Yes…”

“Tell me what you’ll become?”

“Physical Anthropologist, Miss.”

Blank faces stared back at him. No one, not even Geeta, seemed to understand.

“Meaning?” Geeta inquired.

Chandana chuckled softly. Bharat suppressed a small smile.

“Miss, anthropology means studying humans. Physical anthropology means studying human physical dimensions, ancient history, biological dimensions, and there are more. All of those.”

A wave of mocking laughter swept through the classroom, sparing only Geeta and Chandana.

“Sit down,” Geeta instructed.

Once the room quieted, Geeta spotted Lavanya whispering to Soumya. “Lavanya, why are you still talking? Study.”

“Miss, who do you think will be in the top ten in our class?” Lavanya asked.

Geeta took a breath, contemplating, her gaze drifting to Harish. “I think Vandana, Harish, Pranab, Iliyas, Lavanya, Vaishnavi, Harika, Vamshi, Vikas, Bharath.”

The inclusion of Bharat’s name shocked everyone, including Bharat himself. No one had anticipated her mentioning him.

Vikas playfully poked Bharat’s stomach with his fingers. “Eee…”

“Shut up, man… She said your name too,” Bharat retorted.

After lunch, as Geeta prepared to head to the seventh grade, her phone buzzed. It was Sindhu.

“Hello, Akka…”

“Are you at college?” Sindhu’s voice crackled through the phone.

“Yes, Akka.”

“Can we talk for two minutes?”

“Tell me, Akka.”

“My husband got an award, the Best Scientific Fellowship Award. We’re having a party this evening at the ** Hotel. You have to come?”

“Um, Akka…” Geeta began, searching for an excuse.

“Don’t try to make excuses. You’ll be free at 7 PM this evening. Just come. My brother-in-law, Dhanush, will pick you up at the same time. Be ready.”

“Hmm…”

“Not ‘hmm,’ you must come.”

“I’ll come, Akka. I’m hanging up.”

In the evening, the college bell chimed, signaling the end of the day. Students poured out, a tide of youthful energy. Bharat, Vikas, and Kaushik lingered by the college gate, beneath the shade of a tree, awaiting Harish.

“If you had asked Geeta Miss at lunchtime, it would have been over, man,” Bharat grumbled.

“Yeah,” Vikas agreed.

Just then, Harish arrived, his shoulders slumped. “Not today, let’s go tomorrow,” he announced dejectedly.

“What happened?” Kaushik asked.

“Geeta Miss met me earlier. I asked about the movie, but she said her friend has some party, and she absolutely has to go.”

“Oh, really?” Bharat’s eyes widened.

“Hey, let’s just go ourselves. Why do we need them?” Harish suggested.

“Hey, we’re going now. We won’t get another chance. If not today, then tomorrow, man,” Kaushik insisted.

“Exactly, we’ll definitely do it tomorrow, okay?” Harish conceded.

Later, at tuition time, Bharat arrived at Geeta’s house. He slipped off his sandals, and finding the door closed, pressed the doorbell. He waited a minute, then pressed it again, holding it down for a few moments. Finally, the door opened.

Geeta stood there, her hair wet, a white towel wrapped snugly above her breasts. As she opened the door, her mangalsutra swung tantalizingly on her peeking cleavage. She instinctively clutched it with her left hand near her cleavage, as if to prevent it from slipping. The towel, drawn tightly around her, highlighted the distinct outline of her nipples. Her fair face glowed like a fresh full moon, and droplets of water from her wet hair trickled down her forehead, like beads of sweat, disappearing into the valley between her swelling bosom.

He was momentarily stunned, a breath catching in his throat.

“Why are you hitting it like that? I’m coming, aren’t I?” Geeta’s voice was a soft murmur.

Her wet hair, falling over her boobs, twisted, momentarily obscuring her face. She lifted her right hand, brushing the strands away. His gaze dropped to her armpit. Suddenly, his pyjama bulged in front. Geeta noticed, a blush creeping up her neck.

“Miss, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you were bathing,” Bharat stammered, his cheeks burning.

Her appearance, wrapped only in a towel, was something he hadn't even dared to imagine.

‘If I’m like this in front of him, 

the boy seems to be getting uncomfortable.’ 

“Come, sit. I’ll be right back.” Geeta instructed, her voice calm, and with an alluring sway of her hips, she walked gracefully into the bedroom, leaving him mesmerized by her retreating figure. In two swift moments, she stepped into the room and closed the door.
She thoroughly dried herself, then stood before her wardrobe, her eyes scanning the rows of sarees, a silent debate ensuing about what to wear to the party.

She felt a surge of indecision. What kind of people would be there? She decided on a somewhat formal attire. Still unable to choose a saree, she first put on a neutral bra and panties, then wrapped the towel around herself again. Bharat was out there; perhaps he could offer a suggestion.

She opened the door. “Bharat, come here for a moment,” Geeta called shyly.

Bharat, summoned, approached. He saw her still in a towel, her bra clearly visible, its tautness accentuating the cleavage beneath her neck. He tried to avert his gaze, though a strong pull of desire urged him to look, and lowered his eyes.

“Yes, Miss?”

“There’s a party now, a friend’s party, and I’m going. I don’t know which saree to wear. I thought you might tell me something.”

“Yes, Harish told me. But what do I know, Miss? Just wear a good one. You’ll look good in whatever you wear.”

She came closer, her fingers gently lifting his chin, tilting his face towards hers. A faint smile played on her lips as she shyly looked down at his feet.

“Don’t say that every time. You choose one.”

He couldn't resist looking at her, a yearning in his eyes. He turned his gaze to the wardrobe, his eyes settling on a violet Banarasi silk saree. He took it off the hanger.

“Miss, this looks good…” he said, handing it to her.

Geeta smiled faintly, a silent thank you. “You like it?”

Lowering his gaze, Bharat murmured, “Hmm… I think it will look good.”

“Thanks, dear.” She turned slightly, her left foot taking a step out, as if asking for permission, while her right foot remained rooted inside.

“Miss, no tuition today then?”

Seeing Bharat still looking down, she raised her hands, pushed her hair back, then came closer, placing both hands on his shoulders. Bharat felt a growing excitement.

“Not today, dear. Study at home, okay?”

“Oh, okay, Miss…”

“Anything to tell me?” Geeta asked, a charming smile playing on her lips.

“Nothing, Miss…” He turned to leave, but she stopped him.

“Look at me.”

He shook his head horizontally, a silent refusal.

“It’s okay, look.”

He lifted his head, his gaze meeting hers. With her left hand on his shoulder, she moved it to the back of his head, gently pulling him closer.

“Don’t go right now. Sit in the hall. I’ll get ready and come, and you can tell me how I look.”

Unable to control his gaze, he looked at her bra and nodded vertically. “Yes… okay, Miss.”

“Does the puppy want a kiss?” she teased.

He nodded vertically, then nervously shook his head horizontally, indicating no. She chuckled playfully.

“Tell me, it’s okay.”

“No, Miss, I’m leaving.”

She pulled him even closer, her rosy lips pressing a soft kiss to his right cheek. He was dumbfounded for a moment, his gaze lifting to meet her eyes.

“You must study when you go home, okay? You remember what I told you, right?”

“Yes, Miss.”

She took his left hand with her right and placed it on her waist. He pulled it back, a silent protest.

“Miss…” He had no words, his mind a jumble of emotions.

“I know he’s a bit tense, he probably thinks he disturbed me.”

She pressed his head back with her hand, bending it slightly, then opened her lips, meeting Bharat’s lower lip. He responded, his lips joining hers. For two breathless seconds, their lips touched, then they pulled back.

“Miss, um…”

She silenced him with a finger on his lips. “Did you like what happened yesterday?”

“I liked it, Miss, but you…”

She held his cheek and pinched it playfully. “It’s enough that you liked it, don’t say anything else.”

“Hmm…” He nodded vertically.

“Look at me…” As soon as she said that, he looked into her eyes.

“What happened here, forget it here, okay? You remember what I told you, right?”

“Yes, Miss…”

She brought her lips closer again. “Come…”

“You get ready, Miss. You might be late.”

“Hey, puppy, don’t you want my lips now? You’re the one who asked for a kiss every day yesterday.”

‘I don’t even understand what I’m saying. 

Have I become too free with him? 

I can’t believe myself being in a towel like this.’

Hearing her words, he didn't hesitate for a second. He took her upper lip into a passionate kiss. With rising desire, Geeta grabbed his waist with both hands, pulling him closer. Geeta held his head, kissing him wholeheartedly.

“Your smell is very fresh, Miss.”

“I just bathed, hmm.”

He gave another kiss, then left her lips, trailing kisses down her neck.

“Sss…” Geeta hissed softly.

“I couldn’t sleep last night, Miss.”

He continued kissing her neck, his lips tracing the edges of the towel.

“Me too, Bharat…”

“Hmm… No, I have to go now. He won’t stop. I wonder how I’ll teach tuition from tomorrow.”

She held his head and pulled him up. “I’ll get ready. You go sit.”

“Miss, I’ll leave. You’ll look good no matter what. Go without thinking anything.”

“Really…?”

“Yes, Miss… You’re so beautiful.”

She blushed, a shy chuckle escaping her lips.

He couldn’t resist Geeta’s beauty, her fragrance, her captivating gaze. He held her cheek and once again took her lips in a deep kiss.

“Hmm…”

He kissed her lower lip once, then her upper lip, lingering for a moment.

He finally let go, turned abruptly without looking back, and walked into the hall. He grabbed his bag, said, “Bye, Miss,” and left.

Geeta, still reeling from the unexpected intimacy, chuckled to herself, a thrill coursing through her.

A car glided to a stop in front of Geeta’s house. 

She was ready, dressed in the brinjal-colored silk saree, its golden floral design shimmering softly. Her pink elbow-length blouse complemented the saree perfectly. Around her neck, the pearl necklace Gautam had given her when they were newly married gleamed. Simple pink glass bangles adorned her wrists, and two-inch kumkum-colored heels completed her ensemble. 

She locked the house and stepped out, holding her saree pallu with her handbag in her left hand. The car windows rolled down. A young man was in the driver’s seat, and a woman in a denim coat over a t-shirt occupied the passenger seat.

The young man, stepped out and, with a welcoming smile, opened the back seat door for Geeta. “My name is Dhanush. Sindhu Vadina told me your name is Geeta, right?”

“Yes, thanks,” Geeta replied.

“Please sit.”

The car came to a halt in front of the ** Hotel. Dhanush once again exited the car and opened Geeta’s door. She stepped out, gracefully holding up her saree pallu, a bouquet she had bought on the way cradled in her arm.

“Our event is on the fourth floor,” Dhanush informed her.

“Aren’t you coming?” Geeta asked.

“I’ll park the car and come.”

She offered a charming, grateful smile. “Thanks, Dhanush.”

“You’re heartily welcome.”

It was a five-story building, its glass facade gleaming black against the city lights. Inside, an elevator stood to the left. Geeta considered the stairs, but decided against it, not wanting her saree to brush against anything. Besides, four floors was a climb. She walked towards the elevator. Just as she reached it, the doors glided open, and two men emerged.

One, in a blue suit and spectacles, removed his glasses and his gaze swept over Geeta from head to toe, as if utterly stunned. 

Unsure how to react, she averted her eyes, stepped to the right, allowing them to pass, and then stepped inside the elevator car.

As the doors began to close, he turned his head, his gaze lingering on her waist for a fleeting second before the doors sealed shut.

Geeta caught her reflection in the elevator’s mirror. 

The silk saree with its delicate golden flowers, the matching pink blouse, the pearl necklace, the simple glass bangles, the two-inch heels – everything seemed to be in place. 

She noticed the pin holding her pallu felt a little low, so she adjusted it up another inch. 

Despite having braided her hair, a few strands had escaped and swayed on her forehead. She brushed them behind her ears with a finger. She gave a final, precise poke to the pleats of her saree, settling them perfectly above her navel.

The elevator chimed, announcing the fourth floor. 

The doors opened, and as she turned, she stepped out, looking left and right. Three people stood nearby – one woman and two men. Next to them, a board, “P. Shivaharan - SindhuPriya invites,” was partially obscured. 

She walked past them. To their left was the hall door.

Entering, she found a moderately spacious hall, brightly lit. A scattering of people mingled, drinks in hand. Snacks and drinks were arranged on the opposite side of the hall. Her gaze drifted to her right, and she immediately spotted Sindhu. She was clad in a rose-red transparent designer saree and a black sleeveless blouse, laughing and conversing with those beside her. 




A man’s left hand rested on her waist, a golden metal watch gleaming on his wrist, his fingers comfortably nestled into the folds of her saree. It struck Geeta as an unusually intimate gesture, even with so many people around.

Geetha’s gaze, as if searching for the hand she’d felt, landed on the person to Sindhu’s right. Dressed impeccably in a black suit, black Oxford shirt, pleated black pants, and black double monk shoes. Geetha’s gaze met the man’s eyes directly. His cheetah eyes, , a sharp nose, a knowing smile, curly hair, and a clean-shaven, chiseled jawline enhanced his striking face.

The very next moment, his conversation with those beside him ceased. He turned his face fully, his gaze piercing directly into hers. Geeta felt a prickle of discomfort under his stare and turned her face away.

When she looked back, Shiva leaned close to Sindhu’s ear and whispered something. Then Sindhu quickly scanned the area, her gaze stopping on Geeta. Smiling, she walked over, took Geeta’s hands, pulled her close, and hugged her affectionately.

“You came!” Sindhu exclaimed, her voice bright. “I was waiting for you. There’s no one from my side here. Happy Geeta.”

“Ha… It’s okay, Akka,” Geeta replied, a little subdued.

Holding Geeta’s right hand, Sindhu pulled her along, saying, “Come.” 

As Geeta approached, Shiva turned completely towards her, his gaze once again meeting hers with an intense, piercing look. Those eyes pricked Geeta. She wondered how he could stare so openly, so unhesitatingly, in front of many people. Geeta, feeling a slight unease, extended her hand.

“Congrats, Mr. Shiva…” she began.

He took her hand gently, his touch soft, then squeezed it tenderly, saying, “Thanks, Geeta.” A tremor ran through Geeta’s hand. Geeta took two steps back, intending to move away, but Sindhu stopped her.

“Stay here,” Sindhu instructed.

“I’m getting a call, Akka…” Geeta said, and just then, her phone actually rang. It was Gautam. She walked aside to answer, but the call disconnected before she could.

  ‘I thought it would be a very big party, 

but it’s not that big. I guess they only invited close ones. 

Mostly couples our age, and some elders. 

Three couples came with their children.’

She returned and stood by the snacks table. A catering boy approached, asking, “Would you like any drinks, Madam?” 

When she inquired, “Aren’t there juices?” he replied, “Orange, lime, apple, Madam?” She requested “Apple.” He brought it to her in three seconds.

Just then, Gautam called again. She answered.

“Hello,” Geeta said.

“Darling, did you go to the party?” Gautam asked.

Geeta’s gaze drifted to Shiva. He and Sindhu were circulating, chatting with everyone. Shiva’s hand remained possessively on Sindhu’s waist, as if proclaiming, “She’s my wife, my wish, my own, my pride.” Sindhu showed no agitation; it seemed perfectly normal for them.

“Ha, I’m here,” Geeta confirmed.

“Oh, did you meet them?”

“Hmm…”

“Did you congratulate them?”

“Uh…”

“What happened? Something feels off.”

“There’s no one I know here,” Geeta confessed.

“Our people are there, right?” Gautam pressed.

As she looked, Sindhu had left Shiva and was talking to other men. Shiva wasn't even glancing at Sindhu. It was as if he held an unwavering confidence, convinced that no man, no matter how hard he tried, could attract his wife more than he could. Geeta observed all this while still on the phone.

“Sindhu Akka and everyone are busy greeting guests and are immersed in hosting,” Geeta explained.

“Ha, they’ll be busy then,” Gautam acknowledged.

“Everyone here is a couple, you know? How nice it would have been if you were here too,” Geeta sighed.

“Hmm, but what about that? How many more parties like this will there be?”

“It’s not that, but Mr. Shiva and Sindhu look so good together. It would have been nice if we were here too. Everyone should get jealous seeing us. I would also be walking around holding your hand, but now I’m alone.”

“Darling, understand, I have my work,” Gautam said gently.

“Uh…”

Just then, Shiva approached, talking to an elderly man, and began to look at Geeta. While showing hospitality and having the catering staff bring drinks for the elderly man, he intently watched Geeta. He kept looking at Geeta and the elderly man alternately as he spoke. Geeta felt a little flustered by Shiva’s gaze and looked towards Sindhu.

“Did Shiva ask about me?” Gautam inquired.

“He’s busy with others; he didn’t ask.”

“He won’t forget me.”

She turned towards Shiva again; he wasn't looking. After two seconds, he looked back.

“I don’t know how to stay here any longer. If you were here, there would have been people you know,” Geeta lamented.

“Yeah, well, Sindhu will be with you for a bit, wait,” Gautam assured her.

“We should also arrange a party like this,” Geeta mused.

“Now what would be arranged? And what’s there?”

“Hmm… Okay, honey, I’ll hang up.”

She ended the call, grumbling inwardly that Gautam wouldn’t understand even if she explained. She put her phone in her handbag with her left hand and sipped the apple drink in her right.

She glanced at Sindhu, who looked back and offered a faint smile. Sindhu also seemed to realize Geeta was alone.

Geeta took another sip and looked over to find, two feet in front of her, small eyes filled with beautiful blue irises, a mole in his right eye. As she observed the relaxation of his irises, his eyes connected with hers. A nice, confident little smile played on his lips. As Geeta swallowed the apple juice and moved the glass away from her lips, Shiva’s lips curved.

“Geeta, why are you alone like this?” Shiva asked.

Geeta didn’t respond.

“Geeta…”

She slowly fluttered her eyelids and looked up.

“Huh…” she murmured, looking fully at Shiva’s face. His dark complexion, his joyful, piercing gaze, the moisture of juice on her lips, sparkling at the corners. In a moment, she took in all of Shiva; his body was directly facing her. The apple drink glass in his right hand, all fingers of his left hand seemed to be looking at Geeta. The top button of his black shirt, unbuttoned below his suit, revealed the strong union of his shoulders, enhancing his physique. Even with a slight belly, he looked like a hot magazine model overall.

“Are you thinking it would be good if Gautam was here?” Shiva inquired.

“Hmm…”

He took a few inches forward.

“I felt the same way,” Shiva continued. “I have no color, I’ll give you company.”

Geeta tried to find hidden meanings in Shiva’s words. 

‘Why does he have to come and talk to me now?’

“Do you like apple?” Shiva asked.

“Hmm…”

Without any hesitation, he encroached upon her space, filling the air around her with his warmth, leaning in and speaking softly with his lips near her ear, his voice cooled by the cold drink. “I like mangoes very much, but only apple is available now. What can I do?”

The strong scent of his masculine perfume from the crook of his neck mixed with her breath. For a moment, she closed her eyes, savored the fragrance, and then opened them. 

He had stepped back. 

‘His gaze doesn’t falter at all; 

he’s looking at me as if to dive into my eyes.’

“You smell nice, Geeta,” Shiva complimented.

Accepting Shiva’s compliment, feeling shy within herself, Geeta stammered, “Th… Thanks, Mr. Shiva.”

His gaze went downwards; he noticed the drink in Geeta’s right hand was finished.

“Shall I get you one more?” Shiva offered.

Geeta lifted her glass and looked; there was no juice. She looked towards the drinks. Just then, Shiva took the glass from her hand, smiled faintly, went there, got another glass, and handed it to her. In a way, Geeta was lost in thought.

She took the glass from his hand and said thanks.

“You’re a teacher, aren’t you?” Shiva asked.

She sipped the juice in the glass without looking into Shiva’s eyes. “Ha…”

“Which subject?”

“Mathematics.”

“Maths is great.”

“Hmm…”

Someone from the right doorway called out, “Shiva!” He looked over, raised his hand with a smile, and then looked back at Geeta.

“Are you intending to do the same, or do you have any other interests?” Shiva inquired.

“Meaning?”

“I mean, are you planning to work at the same college, or are you looking for something better?”

After finishing eating, Sindhu and Geeta went to a room. Sindhu changed from her saree into another dress there. It was already past ten. Geeta felt there was nothing left for her to stay there.

“Akka, I’ll leave now. Let’s meet again,” Geeta said.
