Ravi smiled for the first time that morning.
The innocence in her tone, the slight flirt, the freshness,
It made him forget the weight of Amit’s message for just a second.
He replied:
Ravi:
“You probably did ”
“Careful, dreams like that can become addictive.”
She replied instantly, typing...
But he glanced at the time again.
7:02 AM. He had to get ready for work.
He sent one last message before putting the phone down:
Ravi:
“Let’s chat later. Heading to office. Have a nice dream hangover ”
He stood up, stretching, but something still felt… off.
He looked around the apartment, quiet, heavy.
No faint clinking from the kitchen.
No scent of Priya’s morning filter coffee.
No soft half-smile when their eyes met awkwardly near the sink.
Just silence.
He showered quickly and got dressed.
Light blue shirt.
Slim-fit navy chinos. Clean-shaven.
Formal, but something about him looked a little sharper today.
A little more... defined.
As he adjusted his watch and grabbed his laptop, his reflection caught his own stare in the mirror.
"You’ve got this," he murmured softly.
But his eyes still lingered on the door that stayed closed all night.

It made him forget the weight of Amit’s message for just a second.
