He passed by her room. Dark. Silent.
The door was slightly ajar.
His eyes lingered for a second.
She won’t be back tomorrow.
Or the day after.
He turned back into his own room, kicked off his slippers, and lay on his bed.
The ceiling fan spun a rhythm above him, slow and steady.
His thoughts didn’t match it.
Her voice echoed in fragments.
“I didn't forget anything, just took a few days off.”
That one line had felt like a hand reaching out,
A window opened again after days of silence.
And then, gone.
His phone screen lit up as he picked it up.
He went to their last chat.
Just stared at her name for a while.
He didn’t know how long he lay like that.
Maybe minutes. Maybe an hour.
Eventually, he turned to the side, facing the wall, and whispered so softly it barely broke the silence.
“I’ll wait, Didi…”
And in that whisper was everything he couldn’t say aloud
The longing, the hope, the storm of emotion he had no right to show, not yet.
The house was dark.
But his feelings were awake.
The door was slightly ajar.
His eyes lingered for a second.
She won’t be back tomorrow.
Or the day after.
