“Ravi!” Neetu said brightly, wiping her hands on a towel.
“Look who finally visited without an invitation for food.”
“Bhabi, technically this was an invitation,” Ravi replied with a grin.
Sirisha rolled her eyes and added,
“Hah! I had to beg you, practically. Bhayya, you better stay till evening. We’re not letting you go quickly.”
Neetu joined in, teasing, “And we made sweet just for you. Vamsi’s not here, so we need someone to praise us, no?”
Ravi raised an eyebrow, pretending to be serious.
“So I’m just a food critic now? Not a guest?”
Sirisha gave him a mock punch on the arm.
“Guest, critic, tutor… all-in-one package.”
They all laughed.
Neetu gestured toward the couch.
“Come sit. Relax. We’ll serve you properly today. Sirisha’s been excited since morning.”
“Bhabi!” Sirisha blushed, half-playfully and half-worried Ravi might take that seriously.
Ravi noticed that pinkness in her cheeks, the way her smile curled slightly as she turned and walked to get the tray of tea.
Something about her felt innocent and daring at the same time.
Neetu sat next to Ravi, leaning slightly closer.
“She talks about you more than you know,” she whispered with a teasing glint in her eye.
“I heard that!” Sirisha called from the kitchen.
Neetu whispered again, louder, “You were meant to!”
