“I was angry. Mostly at myself. Because… I didn’t react immediately. And I’ve been wondering why.”
He said nothing.
She continued,
“It’s not like I didn’t notice. I did. Every second. Every touch. Every look. But a part of me… didn’t hate it. And that scared me.”
The city faded away for Ravi.
“I’m married,” she whispered. “I have responsibilities. A life built around someone else. You understand that, don’t you?”
“I do,” he replied. “I truly do.”
She nodded slowly, gaze drifting back to the sky.
“I’m not ready to joke like before. But I don’t want us to become strangers either.”
He smiled, eyes soft. “Then let’s stay in the middle. I’ll wait until you walk closer.”
She glanced at him sideways. “Always this charming?”
“Only when coffee’s good.”
That got her to smile.
Just a little.
The wind picked up again, tugging at her pallu.
For a moment it lifted, revealing her waistline again,
Fair, clean, glowing like soft moonlight.
Ravi didn’t stare, but he noticed.
Every curve, every breath she took
It was carved in his mind now, without trying.
And she noticed him noticing.
But she didn’t pull the pallu back right away.
