She didn’t stop him, just returned to the kitchen.
Her movements were mechanical but not cold.
The tension from the past week still sat between her shoulders like folded wings, waiting.
Fifteen minutes later,
Amit walked into the kitchen, freshly bathed, a towel around his neck.
He peeked into the saucepan and grinned.
“Smells like a feast. Did I miss something?”
“No,” she said,
Carefully stirring. “Just dinner.”
A few minutes passed before Ravi emerged,
Dressed casually in a navy T-shirt and jeans.

“Hey, look who’s alive,” Amit said, breaking the ice.
“You weren’t planning to stay locked in there all night, were you?”
Ravi smiled faintly. “I was just giving space to the married couple.”
“Oh please,” Amit rolled his eyes. “Come sit. Let’s eat.”
The three of them gathered around the table,
But it didn’t feel like the first week anymore.
The weight of unspoken things lingered.
