Friday Evening: A Knock and a Ripple
It was just past 6:45 PM when Ravi stepped into Flat 205.
The faint scent of turmeric and curry leaves lingered in the air
Priya Didi must have started dinner prep.
He kicked off his shoes, ran a hand through his hair
And let the quiet of the house settle around him.
He hadn’t even set down his bag when the doorbell rang.
He opened it, expecting maybe a delivery guy.
But there she stood.
Sirisha.
In a pale blue sleeveless top and loose denim joggers,
Hair tied into a playful ponytail, a book clutched to her chest.
Her face lit up as if she hadn’t just seen him yesterday.
“Hi Ravi Bhayya!” she chirped.
He blinked and smiled. “Hey… Sirisha. Didn’t expect you.”
She stepped in slightly, eyes darting past him.
“I won’t stay long. Just came to return the notes I took home yesterday. Also…” she hesitated a second,
Then added, “I wanted to ask something. But only if you’re free.”
“Of course,” he nodded, stepping aside.
