Priya Didi - What Keeps Her Awake
The ceiling fan whirred overhead, casting slow-moving shadows on the wall.
Priya lay still beneath the blanket,
Eyes open, watching nothing.
It was past 1 AM.
The night outside was quiet
The city beyond their gated compound now hushed
Wrapped in the late-hour silence
That belonged to only two kinds of people:
Dreamers… and those who couldn’t sleep.
Her pillow felt too firm tonight.
Her thoughts, too loose.
She shifted slightly, turned to the side.
No use.
The stillness of the apartment,
Once comforting, now felt hollow.
The living room door was ajar.
From her room,
She could see the thin line of moonlight along the floor
Reaching toward Ravi’s door like a question half-asked.
