There was a longer pause this time.


Then:

Sirisha:

I liked sitting next to you.

His fingers paused above the screen.


Sirisha (seconds later):

I mean… for learning and all! ? Not like… weird or anything.


He chuckled to himself.

The honesty in that clumsy save was oddly endearing.

Ravi:

I know what you meant.

And it wasn’t weird.

Another pause.


Then her final message came, soft and unfiltered:

Sirisha:

I think you’re different.

In a good way.


He stared at the screen.

No emojis. No laughing this time.

Just that.


He didn’t know what to reply. so he simply smiled,

Set the phone down again,

And let the glow of her words settle beside the quiet ache of the day.
