After the Ride
They climbed the stairs without a word.
Two flights.
Ravi could hear their footsteps echo in the corridor.
His heartbeat thudded just beneath it
Louder than it should have been.
Priya walked two steps ahead.
Her dupatta fluttered behind her.
Her braid, thick and dark, swayed gently with each step.
She didn’t glance back—not once.
Outside flat 205, she unlocked the door like any other evening.
The key turned. The door opened.
She stepped in.
Ravi followed.
The door clicked shut behind them.
And still, no words.
The apartment lights were soft. Familiar.
The living room was just as they left it, calm, neat, unbothered.
But something had changed.
Not the walls. Not the sofa.
