Seeing just how much they could take

How long they could hold out before the magnetic force between them would finally snap.

When Priya reached out to adjust something on a nearby shelf

Her arm brushed against his.

It wasn’t a slight graze.

It was more deliberate

Her forearm pressing into his.

She didn’t pull back.

He didn’t either.

The touch lingered.

Their skin was still buzzing from earlier

The same soft crackle from the auto ride.


He stepped back

Looking at the wall.

She did too.

But they both knew it wasn’t the wall they were focused on.

But neither spoke.

The sound of the house seemed to wrap around them

Old creaks in the floor, the rustle of wind outside, and the heavy silence between them.
