She walked ahead, not glancing back, and he followed,
His footsteps quieter than usual, cautious,
As though stepping into a space not just full of dust, but of possibilities.
The air inside the house smelled of age and forgotten memories.
Priya’s heels clicked on the tiles as she moved through the front hallway,
Tracing her fingers over the faded walls.
Ravi could feel his pulse quicken as he stepped inside behind her.
She was close.
Too close.
She stopped to inspect the broken chandelier hanging above.
Her fingers brushed it lightly, but for a brief, intense moment,
Her hand was too close to his chest as she turned back to face him
Asking, "Do you think it can be fixed?"
The heat from her hand lingered for a second longer than necessary.
Ravi’s breath caught, his chest tight with awareness.
He nodded quickly
Forcing himself to focus on her words. "It’ll need some work, but it’s nothing we can’t handle."
She smiled at him
A smile that could have been just ordinary
But to him, it felt like the softest spark.
