A faint laugh stirred against his collarbone. “I did. And you really didn’t.”
He leaned his head down and kissed her hair. “Do you regret it?”
She pulled back slowly, just enough to look into his eyes.
Her pupils were still dark and wide
Her breath still uneven. “No,” she whispered,
“You are much bolder today…” she wishpered... “See... how much, one week gap, changed you.”
Brushing her lips to his. “You are totally a different person”
Her lips forming the word with reverence.
“I like this version of you… I just… didn’t think we’d feel this much.”
Abhi traced the curve of her arm with one hand
Then gently lifted her wrist and kissed the inside of it, slow, deliberate, tender.
“I didn’t think you’d let me feel this much.”
She smiled, her rosy lips curling with a softness he had never seen this openly on her.
“I trust you,” she said, “more than I thought I would.”
And then her tone changed, playful again,
Even if her eyes still shimmered with something deeper. “Remember the reward you were supposed to get?”
His eyes widened just slightly. “You mean… the one you said I could redeem whenever I wanted?”
She nodded slowly, reaching up to trace his jaw with her thumb. “And I interrupted it last time.”
Abhi swallowed. “You're not going to interrupt me now?”
“Not unless you go somewhere unreasonable,” she said, eyes twinkling. “But… you get one. Just one.”
“One kiss?”
