(CHAPTER CONTD)
After the sun went down , they left the area to explore the Yatch. The main party was upstairs but they decided to explore the place to see what else this place has to offer. As they were walking to the other end of the yatch , Sonarika noticed two familiar faces walking. As their faces became more clear , Sonarika felt a sudden jolt of fear as she recognized them to be Sandeep and Tamanna.
They were walking towards her. Sonarika on that sudden state of fear and panic did the only thing she believed could conseal herself , she grabbed Vikram and pushed him to the nearby wall as she started to kiss him passionately. Her hair concieled her face as they were making out intensely. Tamanna and Sandeep only saw them as a random couple and as they passed they both giggled as Sandeep stated which both Sonarika and Vikram heard.
"Looks like the love voyage has begun!"
They continued their walk as Sonarika maintained the kiss making sure they have gained distance from them. Then she felt it , a pull to not stop this kiss , to succumb to this feeling , his energy , his infactuation. But she eventually moved away , stopping the kiss.
"Wow , Soni , you're making it hard for me" Vikram confessed.
"We have a problem" Sonarika said in worry and panic.
"What's wrong?"
"You see that couple , that's Tamanna , Hemant's college friend and Sandeep , Hemant's former boss's son"
"SHIT! They know you right?"
"Yeah , we have to make sure we never come in their line of sight"
"Looks like they're in the lower deck now so why don't we go in the upper deck"
"Good idea"
Sonarika and Vikram quickly left this space and went upstairs. The bachelorette was getting heavier upstairs as the party was slowly swinging up to get started. Sonarika and Vikram ended up running into Mouni and Sagar.
"Meghna told us you guys are coming" Sagar said noticing them.
"Where is she btw?"
"Oh she is busy with her date , they are kind of in a.....different mood"
Sonarika understood what he meant as she noticed Mouni in the distance leaning to the side rails away from the party. It was unusual of her as Mouni was always the alive one in these parties. Sonarika came close to her and she noticed Mouni having a dull look on her face as she was looking into the ocean.
"Hey , Mouni , why the long face?"
"Oh nothing , just waiting for the party to get started"
"Aren't you the one who always get the party started"
"Am I"
"From my own experience yes"
"Then maybe you're not aware of the real me Sonarika."
Sonarika noticed that she looked upset , and her standing here was a sign saying she was trying to avoid the party vibe. Sonarika decided to be the friend.
"What's bothering you Mouni"
"What makes you think I am bothered"
"You're clearly not you in this boat right now"
Mouni didn't say anything , she looked at Sonarika for a few seconds and then looked ahead to the sea.
"You're right Sonarika. I am not myself anymore. Lately , I ve been conflicted with my life , my thought process is a spiral , every single point in my life feels like a mess. And I feel so depressed with my life right now"
"But why?"
"Because of your husband"
Sonarika looked at Mouni surprised with an accusation like that. She was about to respond in anger but Mouni continued.
"I really wished Hemant never met Kunal in this life....ever"
Sonarika realized what her turmoil most likely is. She is kind of in a similar boat but with a different mindset.
"Why?"
"Because life was easy for me , I had someone to blame for my failures. This was not a life chosen by me Sonarika , of course I had frustrations , my own problems. But Kunal literally pushed me towards Sagar for years for his own perversion. And now suddenly he feels he is no longer interested in that lifestyle and now he is forcing me to be my old self"
"Is that so? did Kunal tell you that?"
"He didn't tell that , I just know he misses me in his life. I..."
Sonarika noticed that Mouni was getting a bit emotional while talking.
"I have seen him many times taking a peak at me , one night , I saw him hugging our marriage photo crying , probably feeling guilty for all his terrible choices"
"And what did that make you feel?"
"You see it now , completely miserable , every single time I close my eyes , I see his crying face , how he was holding that photo to his chest. He is changed , a different man. A better man for that matter , he barely meets or talks with Sagar , is now more of a family man than he ever was. The only time we talk is about the house expenditures and money planning. Its terrible Sonarika , back then I could hate someone , blame someone for my miserable life. Now , thanks to your husband , I have become the villain of my own story"
"Its unfortunate Mouni , I understand your sorrow , you didn't choose a lifestyle like this. But at the end of the day , it was indeed a choice. And you are still capable of making your own choice."
"Like what? Start being loyal to my now perversion-cured husband? Return to that boring housewife life again?"
"You yourself said , Kunal changed. Did he become like his past self?"
"Not exactly"
"Then why are you worried about going back when he is leading a path forward"
As Sonarika said that , Mouni felt like an awakening in her , like suddenly a bulb turned on. Mouni looked around at first comprehending the situation and then Mouni turned to Sonarika again and asked.
"Do you think its that easy Sonarika? To move on? Tell me , you are involved with Vikram right now. If right now , you have to choose someone , can you do it?"
Sonarika was having a tough time finding the words as the duality in her deepened the conflict of her mind. She looked behind and saw Vikram talking with Sagar and enjoying drinks as her mind imagined the moments she spend with him. Including the recent holding hands watching the sunset together. She had her struggles but she confidantly answered Mouni.
"Yes I can Mouni. Because unlike you , I have no one else to blame but myself."
Mouni was startled by her confident response , this made her also realize the difference in their situation. Mouni was tempted into an affair with Sagar by Kunal himself , Sonarika on the other hand is literally cheating on her husband. Her accepting her mistake made Mouni understood how much of a deep conflict Sonarika is probably going through in her mind right now. She acknowledged her strength in her situation.
The party was slowly taking effect , the main girl Rachika made her entrance along with her girl gang. The party picked up its strength as the DJ walked in and the dance floor was ignited with tap sounds of shoes and heels. Everyone ganged up on the dance floor. Mouni let go off her worries and danced her heart out. Sonarika maintained a close distance to Vikram as they danced.
This moment made her remember the dance they had on that rainy night in Bali. How they danced together and the audience cheered and clapped for their chemistry. Right now at this moment , Sonarika could feel that chemistry right now , along with that familiar magnetic attraction which resulted in their bodies covered in clothes touching each other.
That is when she saw the next surprise of the night. Meghna was walking into the event with her date , and her date was Disha!
The very same Disha that worked with Hemant in QUADRON. She started to panic instantly as Vikram noticed it too. Sonarika led him away from the dance floor as Vikram enquired.
"What happened now"
"Its Meghna's date , I know her"
"Know her?"
"Its Disha Vicky , she was Hemant's assistant in his old office , she knows me"
"Oh no!"
"Just get Meghna to me somehow"
"Don't worry Soni , here is the key to the room alloted to us , its in the pathway here , go there , I'll send Meghna to the room okay?"
"Okay"
Saying that , Vikram left Sonarika who walked away from the dance floor and towards the upper lobby area. She eventually reached the designated room and opened it. Sonarika noticed the place was spacious but she could not appreciate this place because things were going out of control in her life right now. Tamanna and Sandeep's presence was already a problem for her and now to make things worse , Disha was part of the party too. Sonarika waited for half an hour after which Meghna arrived at the room.
"Meghna , WHAT THE HELL!"
"What?"
"DISHA? That was your date? Why didn't you tell me"
"Because I wasn't sure she was going to come okay. I was going to bail on you so that you can spend your special night with Vikram without bothering about me. I wasn't sure Disha was going to show up"
"And now she did"
"Yeah I know , as I was leaving , I saw her coming , I learned you and Vikram were on the lower deck so I took her upstairs."
"Uggghhhh......what are we going to do?"
"Relax Sonarika.....its an easy fix. You spend your time with Vikram upstairs , I will spend the rest of the time downstairs with her. My accomodation is downstairs anyways"
"Its not that easy Meghna...that idiot Sandeep is in this boat"
"You mean Hemant's ex-boss"
"Ex-boss's son"
"He is here?"
"Yes"
"But who is he here with"
"That is the worst part. He is here with Tamanna"
"Who is Tamanna?"
"Tamanna is Hemant's college friend. Hemant told me some time ago that Sandeep was seeking a relationship with her. I guess now it seems they are one now"
Meghna analyzed this new information as her eyes widened with this new interesting scenario. She giggled a bit thinking about something and then took a sigh and turned to Sonarika.
"Hmm...okay. I'll handle them too , have Disha and Tamanna ever met?"
"No"
"That makes sense , Disha did tell me she haven't talked to Hemant since he left Quadron."
"She knows you?"
"Yeah , she knows I am Hemant's friend , was kind of irritating for me at first because she is a big fan girl of Hemant"
"Hemant mentored her , she looks up to him"
"Whatever , I will handle them and make sure they stay at the downstairs section while you guys enjoy the upstairs deck."
"Are you sure"
"Sonarika , I've got your back. No one will notice you tonight , just spend your time with your Vikram okay?"
"Okay"
"I'll message you the clear word and then you can come to the dance floor"
Saying that Meghna left , Sonarika was in full on panic mode despite Meghna's assurance. She regretted agreeing to come here after all the chaos in her life. But even in those panic moments , she remembered the talk she had with Vikram. About the sunset , about holding hands , his wish of a morning at his hotel suite drinking tea.
Moments like that made her feel the deep connection she has forged with him. It was no longer just the sex and the past intimate memories that were guiding their time right now. As Sonarika received the clear message from Meghna , she walked out from the room and into the deck pathway.
She walked ahead and she eventually reached the dance floor area which had died down now. She saw Vikram talking with some other people but when he saw Sonarika approaching , he left them and came close to her.
"Hey , you talked to Meghna?"
"Yeah , its getting intense Vicky , not only I have to worry about Tamanna and Sandeep seeing me here , now I have to worry about Disha as well"
"Relax Soni , all of them are in the lower deck , the more crowded party has shifted there since there is a pool there , there is a good chance all of them will be spending their night in the lower sections , plus I've learned their room accomodations are in the lower sections , so there is nothing to worry about"
His words gave her a reassuring relief in her mind as she joined him to enjoy the party. The music pulsed through the warm sea breeze as the yacht gently swayed under a blanket of moonlight. Mumbai’s shimmering coastline flickered in the distance, a reminder of the world Sonarika was leaving behind tonight. Amid the laughter and clinking glasses of Rachika’s bachelorette celebration, Sonarika found herself searching for Vikram in every reflection, every stray glance. He stood near the deck’s edge, laughing with a small group, his shirt buttons open until his chest was exposed , hair tousled by the wind — so effortlessly magnetic that she felt her heart pull toward him like the tide. She could hear Hemant’s voice in her mind, steady and familiar, the memories they had made echoing like a distant temple bell. But with each passing moment, those echoes seemed to lose their weight against the thrum of desire rising inside her.
When their eyes finally met across the dance floor, time seemed to slow. The DJ dropped a softer, sultry beat that coaxed the other guests into a haze of swaying bodies and gleaming smiles. Vikram could see the war raging inside her — the guilt, the longing, the fear. The sea shimmered under the moonlight like scattered diamonds, and laughter floated across the yacht's deck as the guests celebrated Rachika's bachelorette party. Sonarika stood near the railing, a flute of champagne in her hand, trying to steady her heart. She watched the waves slip by in a silvery hush, but her mind wasn’t on the ocean; it was on Vikram. He was nearby, laughing with a group of friends, but every now and then, their eyes met — a fleeting, electric connection that neither could ignore. Sonarika felt her pulse quicken each time, a dangerous thrill she hadn’t felt in months. Somewhere deep inside, a part of her she thought she had buried was stirring awake.
When Rachika bounded up to them, her face glowing with excitement, Sonarika barely had time to react.
“You two have to dance for me tonight!” Rachika demanded, clapping her hands.
“I want the best dancers on this boat to set the floor on fire for my special night!”
Sonarika hesitated, glancing at Vikram. The memories of their past flooded her — the countless nights they had spent dancing in each other's arms, the stolen kisses, the heat that had once defined them , the passionate days and the passionate nights. Vikram’s smirk was soft but knowing, as if he, too, was replaying every touch and every moment they had shared. With a slow nod, Sonarika agreed, her heart hammering as Rachika cheered and the guests gathered to watch.
The music began — a sultry, rhythmic salsa tune that wrapped around them like silk. Vikram stepped forward first, his hand outstretched in invitation. Sonarika took it, feeling the familiar strength of his fingers around hers, and they moved together into the center of the deck. As the first beats rose, their bodies responded instinctively, hips swaying and feet gliding in perfect synchrony. It was as if they had never stopped dancing, as if the months apart and her marriage to Hemant had all been a dream. Every spin, every pull closer felt like an unspoken confession, a silent plea for the connection they had both been craving.
Their faces drew closer as the dance grew more intense. Sonarika’s breath hitched when Vikram's hand slid along the curve of her back, pulling her flush against his chest. His scent — a mix of salt, cologne, and something uniquely , his aura enveloped her, making her head swim. Their eyes locked, and in that gaze, there was no hiding: no husband, no family , no guilt, no world outside this floating dance floor. Just two souls tangled in a rhythm that felt both forbidden and inevitable. Sonarika’s fingers dug into Vikram’s shoulders, her body arching to his movements, surrendering to the music and the longing that pulsed between them.
As the final chords rang out, Vikram dipped her low, their faces inches apart. The yacht seemed to hold its breath along with them. Then, without a word, Vikram pulled her up and crashed his lips onto hers. The kiss was deep and hungry, a culmination of months of denial and months of flirting words and repressed touches. Cheers and claps erupted around them, with Rachika screaming in delight, but they were oblivious to the noise. In that kiss, Sonarika felt everything — the thrill of rediscovery, the rawness of their shared history, and the sweet agony of wanting what she could not openly claim.
Unbeknownst to Sonarika , both Tamanna and Sandeep along with Disha and Meghna have arrived at the higher deck to enjoy the more vibrant space of the dance floor. But the ambience and the vibe , along with the sensual charge that had developed in that environment made them oblivious to each other. Each couple were lost in their own moment in that night at the sea.
The yacht swayed softly under the starlit sky off the Mumbai coast. Music pulsed through the deck, laughter and clinking glasses echoing into the night as Rachika’s bachelorette party reached its peak. As the music shifted to a slow, intoxicating rhythm, Vikram was still with Sonarika lost in their fierce, hungry kiss, it was as if the entire world paused. The other guests were lost in this party ambience, who were oblivious to the deeper truth — that this kiss wasn’t just passion, but an unspoken confession of a forbidden love that had long waited to be set free.
Nearby, Tamanna giggled nervously as Sandeep guided her to the dance floor. The lights reflected off her shimmering dress, her cheeks flushed with a shy excitement. They had gone on many sweet, hesitant dates, but tonight felt different — a step into something deeper. As they danced, their eyes met, and Tamanna felt her breath catch when Sandeep brushed a stray strand of hair from her face. His hand lingered on her jawline, his thumb tracing the edge of her lips. Sandeep’s eyes glimmered as he drew her closer, their foreheads touching. In that tender, charged closeness, they found the courage to finally embrace, sharing a gentle, lingering kiss that sealed their mutual infatuation and ignited the promise of intimacy waiting just beyond this night.
Meanwhile, Meghna and Disha stood slightly apart from the crowd, their fingers entwined. Meghna’s confident, playful energy wrapped around Disha like a protective cloak, giving her the courage to explore a part of herself she'd long kept hidden. As they shared soft, breathless laughter, Meghna leaned in, her lips grazing Disha’s ear with teasing warmth. Disha trembled, her heart pounding as she realized how deeply she wanted this. Their eyes locked, and in that quiet exchange, Disha nodded, her desire blooming into certainty. With a knowing smile, Meghna led her away from the dancing guests, down the deck toward a private cabin below. Their lips met in a slow, exploratory kiss, quickly deepening as they disappeared into the shadows, eager to discover each other fully, far from the noise above.
Back on deck, the music swelled again, the waves catching the lights like scattered diamonds. Vikram and Sonarika stood at the center, still locked in their kiss, their love finally free in the open air. Around them, friends cheered and raised their glasses high, toasting to love in all its wild, unexpected forms — to confessions spoken without words, to new beginnings, and to secret passions that dared to break free under the moonlit sky. With each kiss, they stumbled closer to the upper deck room assigned to them. Her eyes, half-closed and shimmering, darted back to the party as though she might change her mind, but each step only deepened her resolve. Vikram’s hand slid along her waist, guiding her gently but firmly. The door to the room clicked shut behind them, leaving only the hush of the sea.
The Voyage of love made its slow sail through the sea into the night.
