Tuesday Evening – Walkway Conversation
The corridor outside their apartments was calm.
The overhead lights had just flickered on, casting a soft amber glow on the freshly swept floor.
The hum of a distant pressure cooker and a TV from someone else's flat filled the silence.
Abhi coming back from office.
Just as he turned toward the stairs,
Meghana stepping down the stairs from 403.
She paused when she saw him… Their eyes met.
There was no hiding that long, searching second.
“Hey,” she said softly.
“Hey,” he echoed. “Evening walk?”
“Just needed air.”
They stood there in the middle of the corridor, not too close, not far either.
The same place where they had once passed each other with brief smiles.
Everything felt different now.
A gentle wind moved through the hallway, rustling the trailing end of Meghana’s dupatta.
She crossed her arms lightly, then unfolded them again.
“You heard from her?” Abhi asked quietly.
Meghana shook her head,
A faint sigh slipping through her lips. “Not since the last blue ticks.”
