Chapter 2
Saturday Evening – A Pause in the Corridor
The corridor was hushed as Abhi stepped off the elevator onto the second floor.
The dusky light outside had faded into a cool twilight, and the scent of rain-drenched earth drifted in through the stairwell window.
It’s been three days since that morning when Varnika walked in unannounced, interrupting Meghna and Abhi’s intimate indoor yoga session.
He hasn’t been able to shake the thoughts since. But as he turned toward his door, something shifted in the air.
A quiet chime.
The elevator behind him sighed open again.
He turned.
Madhavi stepped out, umbrella closed, a small cloth bag in one hand, her damp pallu clinging to the curve of her hip.
The indigo saree she wore shimmered faintly under the corridor light.
Her hair loosely gathered, a few soft strands falling down one side of her face.
She paused the moment her eyes found his.
Abhi stood still. His breath slowed.
It had been just six days since she kissed him on the cheek, lingering long enough to burn it into his skin, and then… silence.
No replies to his messages. No sightings on the balcony. No casual glances on the stairwell.
Until now.
