A few seconds passed.
Then Varnika stood.
“I'm gonna lie down for a bit,” she said.
Her voice wasn’t sharp.
It wasn’t angry.
But it was... thinner.
As if held tight by something underneath.
“You haven’t eaten anything,” Meghana said.
“I’m not hungry.”
Meghana watched her walk away, barefoot, her steps softer than usual.
Just before she turned into the hallway, Varnika paused, her back still turned.
There was a moment—just long enough to say something, or not.
But she walked on.
Meghana sat there in the fading light, her fingers still around the cold glass.
She didn’t call her back. She didn’t ask what was wrong.
Because she already knew.
And across the house, in a quiet bedroom
Varnika lay down with her arm dbangd across her eyes, frustrated not just with the ache in her chest,
But with how deeply it confused her.
Because it wasn’t just about Abhi.
It wasn’t just about Meghana.
It was about her—feeling things she hadn’t expected, and not knowing what to do with them.
