“What?” she asked, voice soft, but there was something in it, like she already knew the answer.
He took a second too long to answer.
“You look… different in this light,” he said finally.
Her mouth curved. “Different how?”
He exhaled. “Beautiful. Distractingly beautiful.”
Her eyebrows lifted, amused but not surprised. “So easily distracted,” she murmured, stepping forward and folding the towel slowly, her fingers lingering over each corner like she had all the time in the world.
She sat down again
On the floor this time, close, her legs folded under her, elbows resting lazily on the edge of the couch near his knees.
He couldn’t help but notice her soft curves from the low neck of her pink kurti.
He couldn’t help but notice the deep shadow that makes his heart jump just before it disappear deep into the neckline of her kurti
He couldn’t help but notice the delicate locket rising and falling against her cleavage catching the light with every breath she took.
She didn’t look up right away, just let the moment breathe.
“So… you’re staying until akka comes?” she asked, voice pitched lower now.
He nodded. “That’s the plan.”
“Well.” She finally looked at him. “Your company made this afternoon way more interesting.”
“Pretty sure that was all you,” he said, a small smile playing at his lips.
Her gaze held his, calm, unblinking, but electric underneath. “You’re kind of charming when you’re not trying so hard.”
“And you’re kind of dangerous when you know you’re being watched.”
“Am I being watched?”
He leaned forward slightly. “I think you like it.”
She didn’t deny it.
Just smiled, a slow, quiet smile that felt like a dare.
The silence stretched, but it wasn’t awkward.
It was full.
Of things not said.
Of things almost said.
Of that thin line between restraint and possibility.
And then—the click of keys.
