A few days passed.

Kavya, now more composed and focused, had shifted her full attention back to the mission. The container bust had been a major blow to Gajender Singh’s operations, but it wasn’t enough. She wanted the entire network dismantled, and Gajender behind bars.
In her office, she met with Inspector Chandan, outlining a new plan. “We’re going to follow the money trail,” she said firmly. “This time, we’ll freeze their accounts before they even realize what hit them.”
Chandan nodded. “Understood, madam. I’ll start right away.

But at the other end of the city, Gajender Singh was already watching. His team had flagged Chandan’s increased activity. And though the gang members suspected something was brewing, none of them could decide what Gajender himself was plotting.
Because now… he had begun his real game.
This wasn’t just about eliminating a threat. Gajender wanted to break Chandan completely and take what mattered most to him.

He paced slowly through the garden of his private estate, his mind cold and calculating. To destroy a man, he thought, you don’t just touch his body. You poison his peace. You take the one thing he thinks is safe…

He smiled faintly. Shalini.

The name echoed in his thoughts like a promise. But Gajender was too clever to move openly. No threats. No rash decisions. Everything had to look like coincidence. Like fate. Even his own men wouldn't know until it was too late. And by then, it will be over.
It was an ordinary afternoon when the sudden news struck like lightning.

Inspector Chandan, while sitting in his cabin, collapsed to the ground. Paralyzed. Unable to move. His colleagues rushed to his side, panicked and shouted for help. Within minutes, he rushed to the nearest hospital.

The news spread quickly and so did the gossip. By the time Kavya heard, whispers had already begun swirling around the workplace.

“She pushed him too hard…” “All that pressure from the Kavya Madam…” “That’s why he collapsed…”

Though she said nothing, each word landed like a stone in her heart. Guilt flooded her as she remembered their last conversation, his quiet determination, his promise to handle the assignment alone. She wasted no time. Within minutes, she reached the hospital, rushing toward the ICU.
There, just outside the doors, stood Shalini. Her eyes were red with tears, her arms tightly crossed as if holding herself together. The two women met eyes both strong, both wounded.

Before Kavya could speak, the ICU doors opened, and the doctor stepped out. He removed his mask and looked at them grimly. “We’re doing everything we can. Right now, we can’t say anything definitive. His condition is critical. We’ll need at least 24 hours… and several tests.”

Shalini’s breath hitched, and her knees slightly buckled. Kavya stepped forward and gently held her arm.

“We’ll wait,” she said quietly, though her own voice trembled. “He’s strong. He’ll pull through.” But in her heart, fear and guilt churned like a storm and behind them both, in the shadows,

Kavya sat beside Shalini in the quiet waiting area outside the ICU. Hours had passed, but neither of them moved. Shalini’s eyes were fixed on the floor, tears dried on her cheeks, while Kavya’s mind ran in a loop questions, regrets, and the growing dread that this wasn’t just coincidence.

Then, a young doctor stepped out holding a file. “Family members, please come with me,” he said.
Both women immediately stood. Shalini adjusted her saree nervously, and Kavya, still in her crisp security officer uniform, followed quickly behind. They entered the doctor’s cabin and sat down across from him.
The doctor removed his mask, glanced at the report, and took a deep breath.

“He’s stable now,” he began, “but his condition is serious. The paralysis… it’s not due to injury or stroke. His nervous system is not responding as expected. The veins are intact, but something has affected his motor response.”

Shalini’s face went pale. “What does that mean, doctor? Will he walk again?”

The doctor shook his head slowly. “Right now, we can’t say. He’s conscious, but he can’t move. We’ve already forwarded the reports to a higher medical board for deeper investigation. It could be toxins… or something neurological. We need time.”
Kavya leaned forward. “Toxins? Are you saying this might not be natural?”

The doctor gave a careful nod. “We’re not ruling anything out. But yes… the symptoms don’t align with natural causes.”

Shalini’s eyes welled up again. “Please… do whatever it takes.” “We will,” the doctor assured. “But the next 48 hours will be critical.”

Kavya exchanged a glance with Shalini. The guilt in her chest was now joined by suspicion. Something wasn’t right. And if this wasn’t natural… then someone had done this. Someone who wanted Inspector Chandan out of the way.

Inside the doctor’s cabin, the air was heavy with worry. Kavya placed a gentle hand on Shalini’s shoulder. Her voice was steady, but soft. “Shalini, don’t lose hope. Chandan is strong, he’ll come back from this. I promise.”

Shalini looked at her through tear-filled eyes, then slowly nodded. “I’ll wait… I’ll wait no matter how long it takes.”

Kavya managed a faint smile and said, “Go take some rest. I’ll stay back and speak to the doctor.” With hesitation, Shalini stepped out, wiping her eyes.
Once they were alone, Kavya turned back to the doctor. Her tone changed—now firm, controlled. “Doctor… earlier, you mentioned the possibility of toxins. Are you saying someone poisoned him?”
The doctor shook his head carefully. “No, I didn’t say that definitively. We don’t have conclusive evidence yet.”

“Then what are you suggesting?” she asked.
“It could be neurological perhaps a rare condition, or something that affected the spinal cord,” he explained. “But yes, we are considering toxins as a possibility too. Even something as simple as an insect or snake bite that went unnoticed.”

Kavya’s eyes narrowed. “You’re saying this could’ve been an accident… or intentional.”

“We’re not ruling anything out,” the doctor replied calmly. “The specialist reports should clarify more in 48 to 72 hours. Until then, please prepare the family for uncertainty.”
Kavya nodded, her mind already spinning. Chandan was working on a sensitive case. And now, suddenly, he’s paralyzed…
She stepped out of the room, her face unreadable. But deep inside, her instincts had shifted from guilt to suspicion.
After speaking with the doctor, Kavya stepped out of the cabin. She saw Shalini sitting alone on the bench, her eyes filled with worry.
Kavya sat beside her and gently said, “Shalini, the doctors are doing everything they can. This may take time, but Chandan is strong. You must stay strong too for him.” Shalini nodded silently, wiping away her tears. Kavya gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder and stood up.
“I’ll be back tomorrow,” she said. “Call me if you need anything.”
As she walked away from the hospital, Kavya’s mind was heavy. The weight of responsibility, guilt, and now suspicion pressed on her shoulders. That night, she sat by the window of her villa, the lights dim, her thoughts circling endlessly around Chandan’s condition.
At 10 PM, her phone rang. Vivek Sharma.
Her jaw clenched. Anger surged through her as she stared at the screen. After a long second, she picked up.
“Hello?” Her voice was sharp, cold.
There was a pause, then Vivek’s voice came through too casually for her mood. “Kavya, I saw the news about Inspector Chandan. Just wanted to check on you. You, okay?”
Kavya didn’t respond immediately. Her tone remained firm. “Do you think this is the right time to call?”
Vivek hesitated, caught off guard. “I was just concerned. You seemed disturbed last time. I thought maybe”
She cut him off. “Vivek, listen carefully. I don’t have time to talk with you now. One of my best officers is in the ICU, possibly attacked. I need clarity, not confusion.”
There was silence on the line.
“I understand,” he finally said, voice quieter. “I’m sorry if I disturbed you.”
“You did,” she replied flatly, then ended the call.
She placed the phone on the table and leaned back in the chair, staring at the ceiling. Her instincts were screaming louder than ever. This wasn’t over. Tomorrow, she will dig deeper. Quietly. Relentlessly. Whoever tried to break Chandan was going to regret it.

At the other end, after cutting the call Vivek Sharma shouted at him, scolding her in bad words “” Randi Saaali ,,,, You are showing your anger to me, I will pay this for you “”
