Too soon, the much awaited nationals comes and Prem’s family joins him in New Delhi. Prem punches his way through the tournament with continuous knock offs. Prerana, Shyamala, Pavitra and Amala all see his performance in TV and cheer for him. Without too much of any challenge, Prem won the nationals and became the National Middle weight boxing champion. He thanks his coach, family, Prerana and Shyamala for believing in him and pouring so much of their time and efforts into him resulting in his victory. He thanks his college management for allowing him to work and practise and allowing him to participate in the tournament. He thanks his opponents for giving tough competition and expresses his sorry for being hard on them. He says he met great contenders and unless he gave his 100%, he could not even stand in the ring with them. His speech gets much needed applause.
He returns to his college triumphantly with the cup in his hand and the medals around his neck. The principal and staff congratulate him and he thanks the management and especially Amala for bearing with him and supporting him. Amala was a little disappointed that he did not mention her name in the national media. But covered up her disappointment with a smile. His parents were very proud of him and his fathers office staff congratulated him. They arranged a separate meeting congratulating him and his father and awarded him with a cheque for ten thousand rupees as an encouragement. It was soon followed by local MLA and MP wishing him and they gifted him Ten thousand each. These are his first earnings and his mother made them deposit in Temple hundi.
Once the whirlwind of celebrations is complete, he approached Pavitra regarding the sponsorship. She properly congratulated him with a nice round on bed. He asked her about her husband’s whereabouts. She showed him their marriage pictures. Her husband Arun came from a small village and she met him in the college. Arun got into security officer job and proposed her. Her parents accepted and soon their marriage happened. Due to his strict and disciplined behaviour, they had few transfers and her inlaws decided to go back to their village. She sought a job for herself in this city and whenever he got transferred, Arun used to go single and come to her on holidays.
Prem expressed his disbelief that he can leave Pavithra like that and go. She explained after seven years in marriage, the love for each other diminishes. Had they had children things would have been different, but they were unable to make a baby. Prem inquired about the same and she confirmed there is deficiency in both of them, her tubes had some issue whereas his prostrate has some issue. Prem expressed his doubt that Arun might have kept someone as a lookout for her. Pavithra assured that those days are over. He knows I will call him if I need anything. Also, had they lived in security officer quarters, it was a different thing. Prem was still doubtful but Pavithra stated, “after our initial meet, I was in the house for two days, without eating anything. If Arun kept an eye, he would have known or sent someone, but none came. So you need not worry.”
Prem said he was sorry he could not get her any gift as his mother has taken his prize money. Pavithra kissed him and said, she is not his girlfriend to shower with gifts, but affair with an earning older lady and it is her who has to gift him. Prem vehemently refused any gifts apart from sex and when Pavithra was disappointed, he stated that it is necessary to avoid suspicion. Pavithra agreed and they enjoyed their victory sex.
Later he went to Prerana house along with his parents. There Suresh, Shyamala and Prerana congratulated him and Prerana cooked special meals. Prerana and Shyamala were in tears as Prem has mentioned her name in national media and Prem’s mother consoled them. They insisted Prem to not stop and reach international levels to make our country proud. Prem agreed. Later Pavithra called him and said she got appointment with her employer and Prem should meet her to confirm his sponsorship. Prem replied positively and confirmed he will visit with his father.
Prem and his father go on to meet the company Board along with their MD Mrs. Trupthi. There they congratulate him on his undefeated streak and undisputed victory by knockout and discussed his future. Prem confirmed he wants to go to international games of Asian, Commonwealth, World boxing championship and finally, Olympics. The board wished him best and confirmed the sponsorship. Prem will receive monthly stipend of Rs. 3000 and his international tour tickets along with accommodation are looked after by the company. If he continues earning medals, his sponsorship amounts will also be increased.
His father confirms him his bank is ready to offer him a good position if he wants to join them after his graduation, but Prem is currently focussing on boxing alone. Later he took his parents to Amala to meet them. Amala took their blessings surprising everyone and they talked nicely. Prem understood that Amala is dreaming of a future with him including marriage, kids and settling down. But Prem is not interested in it as of now. He has just completed his twenties and is not eager for marriage or any other commitment. So he decided to talk to Amala about it.
He calls her aside and express the same. Amala accepts that she is dreaming of a long fairytale everafter with him. Prem declares it is not possible because she is older than him, he is her student and he is not interested in any relationships right now.
