Vanitha’s phone rang on the desk—the screen showed the number of the nearby office Mani had gone to. To ease the room’s tension and divert Angith’s attention, Vanitha glanced at him hesitantly.
Vanitha: "Angith, pick up the phone and put it on speaker," she said.
Angith, slightly startled, mumbled, "Oh, yeah," and set the phone to speaker.

Angith replied courteously.
Angith: "Alright, Mani, no problem. I’ll book a cab."
Mani ended softly.
Mani: "Okay, sir," he said, hanging up.
A heavy silence filled the room—Vanitha paused her typing, stunned, thinking, What now? Mani’s delay and being alone with Angith spiked her unease. The clock read 4 PM—only an hour to the airport, but Angith’s flight was at 8 PM, leaving two hours.
After a brief silence, Angith spoke.
Angith: "Alright, Vanitha, I’ll head out. Should I book a cab now?"
Vanitha, maintaining courtesy, hesitated.
Vanitha: "No need, Angith. You don’t have to leave yet. No point waiting two hours at the airport. Leaving at 6 is fine. I’ll drop you in my car."

He continued with four or five gentle kisses, grazing her lower lip, then her upper, repeating with quiet fervor. His tongue slipped into her mouth, seeking hers—Vanitha, after a brief hesitation, responded, her tongue dancing with his. Angith let out a soft moan—"Mm"—his hand slid under her saree’s side, touching her bare stomach, fingers gliding over soft skin.
His hand tugged the saree’s fold lower, baring her navel—Vanitha, instinctively, drew in her stomach, aiding him. Angith pulled back from her face, looking down, admiring her navel—a small hollow shimmering against her pale skin. He whispered.
Angith: "Beautiful," he murmured, kissing her deeply again.
Vanitha’s hands gripped his tightly—her hold tightened as his finger circled her navel, dipping inside playfully.
