Adultery VANITHA-Unspoken Flames
#10
By 4:45 PM, Angith was ready in the hall, wearing a blue shirt and black pants, sitting on the sofa and watching TV. At 4:50, Vanitha emerged from her room, adjusting her left earring. In a slightly transparent dark violet saree with subtle makeup, she glowed. Angith looked at her and said, "Wow! You look great!!" Smiling, she replied, "Thank you. Shall we go?" She walked toward the door, and Angith turned off the TV, joining her. They took the elevator down to the reception.

At the reception, the receptionist called out, "Mrs. Vanitha." "Yes," she replied, approaching her. The woman handed her the phone receiver, saying, "Phone." Vanitha took it and started talking. It was her boss, Mr. Ambarish, on the line.
"Hello, Vanitha!! Very good evening, sir!" she said.
"Why’s your mobile switched off?" he asked. Checking her phone in her handbag, she said, "Sorry, sir! It must’ve turned off accidentally when I put it in my bag," and switched it back on.
"It’s okay. Was the trip comfortable?"
"Yes, everything’s fine, sir!"
"Nice. By the way, this evening you’ll meet our company’s owner—our MD, Mr. George."
"Sir?"
"Don’t worry! He’s a very nice person. You’ll see when you meet him," he said, beginning to tell her more about him.
Watching from a short distance, Angith leaned against the reception desk, his eyes tracing Vanitha as she held the receiver in her right hand and spoke. His gaze started at her forehead, slid down to her eyes, cheeks, and neck, lingered on her saree-covered chest, and settled on her waist. With her saree tied low, her navel peeked out, half-hidden by the fabric, teasing his senses. The urge to touch it again surged within him, his lust for her intensifying.
When Vanitha finished the call and turned toward him, Angith straightened up, meeting her eyes. "Ready to go?" he asked. "Yes," she said, walking with him to the hotel entrance. A car sent for them waited outside. They climbed in and set off toward the meeting’s venue. On the way, they chatted about general topics, though Angith secretly savored her beauty without her noticing.
After a half-hour drive, they arrived at the hotel hosting the meeting. Unlike their accommodation, this place resembled a resort, lush with greenery from the gate to the reception. Inside, they asked a male receptionist about the meeting, and he directed them to the venue at the back of the hotel. Vanitha and Angith made their way there.

Past a swimming pool, a crowd of employees from various branches of their company had gathered. As Vanitha and Angith arrived, a man in a coat approached them. "May I know your name, sir?" he asked. After they gave their names, he led them to their assigned table and seated them. Once settled, a server came over and asked politely, "What would you like to have?" When they requested tea, he smiled, said, "Two minutes," and walked off.
Shortly after, the tea arrived, and they sipped it while chatting. Then Vanitha’s phone buzzed. "Hello… You just thought to call me now? Oh, really? Sorry! It must’ve turned off accidentally when I put it in my handbag, that’s why… I miss you too…" As she spoke, Angith realized it was her husband on the line and shifted his gaze to scan their surroundings, avoiding eavesdropping.
Around them, people were drinking tea, coffee, or cocktails. Suddenly, Vanitha called out, "Hello! Hello! Hello!" prompting Angith to turn back to her. Seeing his questioning look, she said glumly, "His phone must’ve died. It cut off." Angith could sense how much being away from her family weighed on her.
After finishing their tea and talking for a bit, a man in a coat stepped forward and addressed the group. "Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen! I welcome you all to this pleasant evening," he began in English. He spoke briefly about the company and its progress before announcing, "Now, our MD, Mr. George, will speak with you." The crowd clapped as Mr. George stepped up.
Standing six feet tall in a coat suit, with a sturdy build, gray streaks in his hair, and a dignified face, George began speaking in English. "Hello everyone, I’m George, your MD," he said with a smile, continuing, "You’ve all been told this is a training. But not everyone here is getting trained…" He paused for effect.
Continuing in English, he said, "Out of the twenty-five people here, we’ve selected five heads. Each will lead a team of four for teamwork and training. Those five heads are: Mr. Yogesh, Mr. Varma, Mrs. Jaspreet, Mr. Agarwal, and Mrs. Vanitha. I’d like these five to come forward."
Angith turned to Vanitha, offering his hand. "Wow, that’s great! Congrats!" he said. "Thanks," she replied, rising from her seat to join the other four in front of the group. The initial speaker introduced each one, and Mr. George shook their hands, handing them a shield. When he reached Vanitha, the last in line, the introducer said in English, "This is Mrs. Vanitha, marketing head of our Coimbatore branch."
Mr. George gave her an enthusiastic smile and switched to Tamil. "Hello, Vanitha, I’m so pleased to meet you. Your branch MD, Mr. Ambarish, has told me a lot about you. Good! We need people like you in the company," he said, looking into her eyes.
Surprised, Vanitha responded, "Thank you, sir! You know Tamil too?"
Mr. George chuckled and replied, "Actually, I’m an Anglo-Indian. Born in Ooty, studied in Coimbatore—that’s why I have a soft spot for your branch. Plus, I speak eight languages." As he spoke, his gaze drifted from her eyes to her lips, down her neck and chest, settling on her navel, faintly visible through her violet saree. He lingered there, savoring it, before returning to her eyes.
Vanitha noticed his stare but stood transfixed, as if before a king. After chatting with her briefly, he said, "Alright, Vanitha, we’ll meet again soon. All the details for your work will be sent to your hotel. Okay! Bye. All the best." Turning to the crowd, he added, "Okay, people, please have your dinner. All your schedules will come to your rooms. Bye! Have a nice time." With applause ringing out, he left.
Vanitha, however, stood frozen, awestruck by his commanding presence, the charm in his gaze, the gravitas in his demeanor, and the confidence in his handshake. Angith’s call snapped her back to reality. They ate dinner and headed to the parking lot to catch their car. There, the man who’d spoken earlier stood by their vehicle. As they approached, he said, "Sorry, madam! This car needs to drop someone at the airport. Could you adjust and take that Innova instead?"
They agreed, and he led them to a nearby Innova. Inside, three men were already seated—one in the front, two in the middle row. Seeing their hesitation, the man smiled faintly and said, "They’re staying at your hotel too. Please adjust." "Okay," they replied, climbing into the back seat with the shield between them. The car pulled away.

Shortly after the car started moving, it got caught in traffic and crawled along slowly. Inside, the man in the front seat was engrossed in a deep conversation with the driver, while the two in the middle row, having had drinks, slept soundly. In the back, Vanitha and Angith sat facing their respective windows. When Angith casually glanced at Vanitha, he saw tears streaming down her face. He lifted the shield between them, placed it by his window, and slid closer. "What’s wrong, Vanitha?" he asked softly. "Nothing… I haven’t spoken to Vinith or the kids since morning, and it just… I don’t know, I feel off. Sorry," she said, wiping her eyes.
