How many characters are too many ?

1, 2 , 5 ?

If a story has Hero, Heroine and a villian.. story is over in 1 update.

Villan kidnaps heroine. Hero beats up villan. Hero rescues Heroine.

If you feel like its too many subplots? you are loosing on main story.. then go read previous updates to brush up your memory.

Even after that you guys feel like story has lost its plot.. I will stop writing the story..

This is your story, So you have every right to write it the way you have it in mind. Comments like this will always be there but they should not deter you from doing what you have originally planned...

It is impossible to satisfy everyone...

So just ignore the noise and continue with your story...
