Earlier we both saw how Nadir was out of line in a party when some one like Cyrus misbehaved with Meena, so we both criticized Nadir, and I agree at that time Nadir was not thinking straight, but here everything that is happening with Tahir was a pre-planned game and a well played match. If you think Tahir is in more control than Meena and Nadir here, then you are completely misinterpreting the circumstances based on purely the dominating persona of Tahir. Yes he is a dominating personality but he knows his limits and the moment he crosses the line beyond the bedroom, he will be put in his place by Meena.
His words "girl" or "girly" are merely his slang used by a farm guy compared to the sophisticated city men, but that doesn't mean he is owning Meena here....
Nadir either becomes water carrier or a mere spectator or anything for that matter is because he chooses to be so for his happiness and his wife's happiness..if the couple finds happiness in their experiments and adventures and with in their realm (that means their life) I do not think I or you have no right to call Nadir a water boy...In fact I feel he is giving his wife a unique experience that she will cherish for a long time.
How can you say he is no longer pulling the strings?
Do you see anywhere here that depicts a picture that Nadir doesn't know anything that is happening in his home or in the farm?
When a series of events happen and those events are discussed before between Meena and Nadir, then how can you imply that its not in his control? Also why do we talk about control? Isn't Meena adult enough to take her own decisions? If she thinks Tahir is a problem for her and Nadir, she will address it herself and there is no need for intervention from Nadir. She hesitates sometimes when she is with people she likes in general but once she knows they are different persons altogether and they mean harm to her and her family, do you think Meena will hesitate and let Tahir control her?
Also what is reality? Why do you think Nadir is far from reality? Do you think giving his wife to another man for night and subsequent nights or maybe initiating an affair between them means they are far from reality? How? I see no signs so far that this affair caused any damage to the couple, emotionally or physically so why are they far from reality? When you say reality, does that reality mean a picture perfect family that you have formed in your mind? And if Nadir and Meena does not match with that picture then they are far from the reality?
