I discovered this story last month, since than I have been obsessed with it. I wanted to write a detailed post about various character evolution & motivations, clashing perspectives on society and marriage portrayed in this story. But I have been too busy for that.
The latest chapter of this wildly popular erotica has come under some criticism. So I decided to write a post about this episode. I will write my full review later as and when I get the time.
Here are my views on the recent criticism and how I see the story progressing.
1.The story is getting Repetitive. I disagree with this for following reasons-
• Formatting of the story
This story is essentially a single erotic novel as the writer has the broad structures along which the story would develop. But the story is being presented in a serialized format with episodes releasing at frequent intervals.
If you read the entire story in one go, the reader will be able to perceive subtle shifts in character motivation & their evolution. But in a serialized format this might appear repetitive.
• Writer’s choice of hyper-realism while portraying the gradual turning of shipra from a doting wife to a promiscuous slut.
It takes time for a woman like shipra to turn into a full blown slut. She constructed her life since marriage with the specific purpose to bury her wild past. It will take some time for those barriers to completely break down.
That is why we see shipra oscillating b/w being a horny slut during the highs of sex and but reverting to her carefully constructed persona of a docile & loving wife when the sexual high finally comes down.
That is the reason patode humiliates her during sex, especially in the recent episode. He wants to leave such an imprint on her psyche that the naturally promiscuous slut in her permanently free from artificially constructed persona that she has created for herself. It has built great anticipation for the next chapter. What will patode do?
Reality can be boring sometimes. But there is beauty in monotony if u look closely enough. The subtle shifts in behavior described over last several chapters is just perfect if read in one go. In hindsight, this story will be a master piece.
• Future plans
Writer is laying grounds for future unravelling of shipra. Suraj has promised wild sexual adventures for shipra in the future. He has to build up to it so that it appears natural and not forced & sudden.
2.Namratha being dominant
Namratha’s reaction in this episode is similar to a parent’s reaction who is tired of her child throwing away her potential. It is a manifestation of her exasperation with shipra’s constant reversion to guilt and doubt after each sexual episode. Namratha just wants shipra to fully explore her sexuality. So she hits shipra, dominates & verbally humiliates her.
This story is not just about shipra. It gives weight to other characters as well. It is 1st time we see the truly mean self of namratha which was lurking behind the façade of a concerned friend. We see her as a more ambiguous character, who is just not concerned about her friend but also wants to direct her life, so that she can justify her life choices about not pursuing a family.
Namratha being dominant over shipra was a hot twist. I hope she returns back after her office trip. I liked to read about her more overtly dominant persona not just the subtly manipulative version of her character.
Down the line, Will we see namratha dominate alok as well? Manipulating and goading him into accepting a changed relationship dynamic with shipra. If her chats with alok over phone call are any indication, her sessions with alok will be fire. Looking forward to some femdom as well.
3.There was nothing new in this episode. I disagree due to following reasons-
• We gained clarity about how shipra sees alok and patode, how she differentiates b/w her feelings for both.
Shipra’s feelings for patode are not love but excitement, adventure, escape mixed with gratitude for his genuine efforts.
Deep down she still loves alok due the bond of marriage and family she shares with him. Though, this bond has weakened due alok’s selfish behavior
Are we inching towards an open cuckold relationship where a reformed and humbled alok fulfills shipra’s emotional & familial needs while patode fulfills her physical needs?
• Introduction of shrutika arora. As far as I can tell, she seems to be the new SP overseeing ambruj introduced some episodes ago. Suraj has teased such an interesting character with limitless potential for sex, drama and political intrigue.
How will she take down the political- criminal nexus?
What will her relationship with shipra and patode develop?
Will she be part of the sexual games afoot in ambruj?
Also she has met up with chetan who has vowed revenge against alok and expose him as wimp.
How all these disparate story strands come togather will be interesting to read.
P.S.
My predictions about the future progression of the story are in no way a wish list. It is just an educated guesswork based on my reading of the story. But i would love to know what suraj thinks about my predictions
Suraj is a supremely talented writer. I would prefer to read how he decides to take the story forward even if I may not like parts of it. That’s why its important Suraj should not alter the progression of the story due to populist demands.
