Adultery Knowing My Wife, Knowing Me As Well - part III

  1. Meera's sudden change of heart after her intimate encounter with Desai at Alpine Heights.
It’s not a sudden change, I am not really sure why you are struggling to this point, it’s a reaction to infidelity, She felt she cheated Krish, every time she couldn’t resist Desai and lets him in for her cravings but once that goes away she feels depressed with self-loathing for lack of morals, lack of enough resistance to fight Desai and cheating Krish…its not about emotional bonding that she is depressed about but lack of her will to resist Desai is bothering her more and more…on top she is comprising her love for Krish every time she meets with Desai behind his back so its natural she jumps guns, then comes back with more tears and blocks Desai. After Alpine heights, she felt she has gone too far with Desai and her cravings, so she thought of only way possible to block him for ever is to distract both of them away from Desai and that is to get pregnant, hence she suggested that the first thing when she confessed. Change of heart is to take control of her life with Krish…

  2. Desai's unexpected and complete surrender, given his persistent two-year pursuit of Meera.

He really didn’t have a choice once he swapped with Krish on that bed, he saw her getting fucked with Krish, whether it was written to give Meera a chance to prove it to him that he changed into Krish or if that was the way author wanted to end it is for us to introspect.

3. The paternity of Meera's child.
Why does everyone think seed belong to Desai? It’s clear Krish is father so there is nothing to struggle to understand this point.

I've tried to understand Meera's perspective retroactively. Instead of analyzing the story from the beginning, I'm willing to adjust some facts and assumptions to justify the ending and make sense of the key characters' actions. I hope you understand my approach.

Yes, aren’t we all doing the same in different ways since the story ended so I get why you wrote your perspective from Meera’s POV.

Regarding Meera's perceived “mistakes”, I'm not suggesting she necessarily sees them as such. She and Krish played a game, using others for their pleasure. As long as they were honest with each other, there wasn’t an issue. But when they started hiding their true feelings, insecurities, and suspicions, problems arose. Meera is now wondering where she went wrong, where she should have applied the brakes to avoid this situation. She's reflecting on what compounded her misery, where she should have recognized the issues, and what she could have avoided doing or saying to prevent Krish from feeling this way.

Yes if she truly has hidden something then there should be purpose behind it, that needed explanation, if she truly loved Krish then she needed to explain her secret meeting with him, If Krish is blaming her for her bond with Desai then she needed to explain that, but your theory that she was lost in Desai’s manipulation and his web doesn’t seem right to me simply because it would seem as she lacks clarity about her feelings about Desai and she was lost with his game, but my understanding is she absolutely has full clarity on her feelings towards Desai, she never agreed to him that she loves him, she always told him that he could get hurt one day if he goes on this path of loving her, as she will never be a couple with him, and she knows its not love, she knows her love is only for Krish…she kept telling that several times to Krish in chapter 50 but he wouldn’t listen so hence my hesitancy with your theory that she was lost in Desai’s manipulations might not be the right theory, Meera always knows what she was doing, She might have got tempted with Sex but her bond with Desai she did not even acknowledge with Krish, she only accepted to go ahead with the plan because Krish said being together will not solve their problem irrespective of Desai is in their life or not.

Her words that it’s time to see what’s in the heart of Desai proves my theory because she never cared about what’s Desai feelings for her and his love for her, as she never bothered to reciprocate with her heart until last chapter when she was tired of trying to get back to Krish. Last chapter was started with lot of uncertainty from both Meera and Krish in their minds, but your theory meant that she has clarity to end with Desai even before it began, as she met with Maithrei and Nidhi before last chapter, if that was the case her body language would have been the one driving the last chapter not Desai and also she would know how much to drink, how well to control the situation, her excessive drinking shows that she is losing Krish and she is numbing that pain and giving into the situation rather than trying to conceive a plan to expose Desai.....It’s well written and a good try from your end my friend but I agree to disagree. no offense.

Regarding Desai creating a fantasy world for Meera with Krish, I believe that's the case. Desai is a master manipulator and an excellent mind reader. He understood Meera's love for Krish better than Krish did, so he focused on addressing her needs first, rather than directly pursuing Meera. Desai helped Meera realize her fantasies that she struggled to communicate with Krish. Over time, Meera became attached to this fantasy, preferring it to reality, and eventually, the "actor" (Desai) over the real person (Krish). She didn't recognize this and the unresolved issues with Krish only made her seek out Desai. Meera initially thought she could use Desai out of naivety, but Desai was too skilled to be played like that—it was his game, and he ultimately won without Meera realizing it. Her longing for Desai is like an addict's withdrawal symptoms—they know it's wrong, but the craving remains and resurfaces when an opportunity arises.

It’s a good theory and maybe you could be right too to certain extent though my theory from the start had been slightly different as everything that Meera did was as a reflection to Krish’s actions, as much as he portrayed to her that he preferred her to be in arms of Desai, the more she will do it to get away from the imbalance in her life to seek a balance so it kind of align with your theory to certain extent but not from Desai's standpoint but more from Meera creating that fantasy herself away from Krish than Desai creating it for her. Hence, she always says this to Krish, if you can keep yourself away from your fantasies then I can easily keep myself away from others. That was the case even in last chapter. She is addicted to sex always and the pleasure that Desai gives like every other women in this story like Nidhi, Maithrei…even in last chapter we can see that Nidhi is still drawn to Desai for sex, so my theory is not about emotional bonding though author wrote it to make us believe that there is something between these two, in reality there is nothing, she is only with Desai for the sake of sex and the bonding we see it just familiarity with a person with whom you had an intense affair for extended period of time. If Krish can let his fantasy go and become her Krish again then she won’t turn back to look at Desai…so her getting messed up in Desai’s manipulations is a no for me, for some reason I think she has clarity on her feelings with Desai , always…I don’t know why author did not clearly explain this to Krish and us readers. Anyways, I appreciate you taking this discussion further and giving a chance to put my perspective as well… thanks

In short, I'm attempting to retroactively adjust my understanding of the story to fit the given ending, focusing on the unresolved questions from the final chapters.

Yes, understood.  I am at peace with this ending, I wanted them together and we got it, so we are good.
