Krish is messed up in his mind but has gotten some clarity about the manipulations playing around him...Meera knows she will not find a wimp like Krish again, so she wants to have a baby with him, so that he can't leave, so that he can't choose what he really wants....this is just another play to screw Krish over...Krish has the chance now to leave and not look back and stop being a pawn in Meera and Desai chess game...
You seems to have a lot of misconception about Meera. But anyways since you wanna suggest a more "realistic" ending. There is a much more realistic ending for that. And that is Krish completely abandoning Meera and moving away since he is heartbroken and want to move away from her after hearing the betrayal. But on the storyline stand point that won't work , because the story since part 1 has clearly stated how much of an unconditional love Krish has towards Meera. Which is why I believe separation is not the answer because the sins were committed by both of them not one of them.
As for Meera , she never wanted Krish to be a "wimp". Matter of fact its the opposite of what Meera wants from Krish. Meera wants her old husband back not the one who is still lost in his kink. Yes , she cheated on Krish with Desai but she was never proud about it , her feelings are still towards Krish. When Desai insisted that Meera should seek permission to Krish about her visit to the resort , Meera didn't tell Krish because she is already feeling guilty of her actions. She cannot stop the advances and cravings for Desai , but at the same time she cannot loose Krish. Just like how Krish was obsessed with his kinks , Meera was obsessed with her cravings of Desai.
But now Krish has overcome his kink because he chose his love over his obsession. Now its Meera's turn to choose her love for Krish over her cravings. That is the only way this story can end , with both of them who have started this game together to end it together. It doesn't make sense for them to fall apart when the whole point of the entire storyline starting from part 1 has been their messed up love for each other.
There is no good or bad people in this story. Its a messed up scenario between messed up individuals , I was the biggest advocator for exploring Krish's character to something bigger , but I realized that is not the point of his character. He was always built as a simple man who fell victim to his fantasies , there is no other trait that exist for that character to explore. You cannot just tell the story of a common man names Surinder Sahni(Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) and then by the end turn him into Don , that is simply not feasible.
For the basic theme of the story , I can only see Meera and Krish uniting and becoming a couple , separating them for the sake of it beats the whole point of the story.
