The next day dawned bright and sunny in Pune, and Riya felt a mix of excitement and anxiety bubbling within her. She had spent the previous evening thinking about Arjun, Vikram and their intense encounters. With her brother and his wife arriving, things were about to shift.


Riya heard a car pulling into the driveway as she helped her mother tidy up the living room. Her heart raced as she rushed to the window, peering to glimpse Aarav and Meera stepping out. Aarav was tall and confident, wearing a casual shirt and jeans, while Meera, with her flowing hair and radiant smile, looked stunning in a pastel-colored dress.


“Riya! Come help us with the bags!” Aarav called out, grinning widely.


Riya quickly reached the front door, opening it just as they reached the entrance. “Aarav! Meera!” she exclaimed, throwing her arms around her brother first, then hugging Meera tightly.


“Wow, you’ve grown even more beautiful!” Aarav teased, pulling back to examine Riya with a proud smile. “And what’s this I hear about you being the house's star?”


Riya blushed, a little taken aback by his compliment. “Oh, stop it! You’re making me feel shy,” she said, giggling as they stepped inside.


Meera’s warm gaze swept over Riya. “You look lovely, Riya. I can see why everyone speaks so highly of you!” she said, making Riya feel special.


“Thanks, Meera,” Riya replied, feeling a flutter of admiration for her sister-in-law. Meera exuded a certain grace that inspired and made her slightly envious.


As they settled into the living room, Aarav and Meera shared stories from their lives in Mumbai, filling the space with laughter and joy. Riya listened, feeling a twinge of nerves, knowing that her secret encounters with Shankar could complicate everything.


Just then, Aarav leaned back on the sofa, casually asking, “So, Riya, how are things going with your studies? Any special someone in your life?”


Riya’s heart skipped a beat. She glanced at her mother, who seemed oblivious, then looked back at her brother. “Uh, nothing like that, just focusing on my studies,” she replied, trying to sound casual while her cheeks flushed.


“Come on, there must be someone,” Aarav pressed, a mischievous glint in his eyes.


“Just a few friends,” she said, quickly redirecting the topic. “What about you two? Any plans while you’re here?”


Meera smiled, exchanging a knowing look with Aarav. “Well, we’d love to explore Pune a bit, maybe even check out some local attractions. And, of course, spend time with family!”. Aarav and I are considering shifting to Pune if we like it here.
 

Riya nodded, feeling the weight of her secret push against her chest. As the day went on, she couldn’t shake the feeling that things would become even more complicated with her brother and Meera around, especially with Shankar’s lingering presence in her life.


As the evening wore on, Riya found herself sitting on the floor in the living room, helping Meera prepare dinner. The aroma of spices filled the air, and laughter flowed easily between them. Meera was not only stunning, but she also had a warm presence that made Riya feel at ease.


“Riya, you should consider getting out more,” Meera said, chopping vegetables with a swift and practiced motion. “You’re at an age where you should enjoy life and explore new relationships. Don’t hide away.”


Riya felt a flutter of nerves at the suggestion, her mind drifting to Shankar and the whirlwind of emotions she had experienced. “I’m focused on my studies,” Riya replied, trying to deflect.


Meera paused, looking at Riya with a mix of concern and affection. “But you need to have fun too. Life is not just about studying. You deserve to have some joy in your life, little sister.”


Riya smiled shyly, touched by Meera’s words. “I know, Meera. It’s just... complicated.”


“Complicated how?” Meera asked, her tone gentle but probing. “If anything is bothering you, you can tell me. I’m here for you.”


Riya hesitated, feeling the weight of her secret with Shankar. “It’s just... sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed with everything. College, family expectations… and other things,” she admitted, not wanting to delve too deep.


Meera reached out, placing a comforting hand on Riya’s shoulder. “You’re stronger than you think, Riya. Just remember that you have Aarav and me to lean on. You’re not alone in this.”


Feeling a rush of gratitude, Riya nodded, appreciating their bond. “Thank you, Meera. It means a lot to me.”
