We have only Desai's word regarding his change of heart. Meera being a fan of Desai's manliness falls for his word hook line and sinker.
Nidhi Desai episode was told by Desai to Meera. I am sure it was a sanitized and probably incomplete version.
Desai's manipulations are indicated by author numerous time inspite Meera taking the credit for changing him to a "lovely person".
1. Desai managing to sit next to Meera at Piyush party in Nagpur (???). May be a coincidence
2. Manipulating Krish to get his approval for asking Meera if she will sleep with Piyush. God only knows what he told her or the way he told her.
3. Managing to turn up at Concert -- may be conincidence.
4. Asking Brides's father to invite him through Krish and manipulating Krish's docile nature to let him stay at Krish House.

Too coincidences for comfort. If they are coincidences, then Meera and Desai bond has divine mandate.
