A reader sent me a private email primarily regarding to Meena's recent writing and way of thinking as shown here, and since I don't want to reply "privately,"

You are a moralist but why are you here?
On the contrary, I am absolutely not a moralist, to classify actions of somebody as absolute right or absolute wrong.
Moral norms that people follow in their actions are relative, even too relative and absolutely not absolute!
The Moral Sense is linked to human nature and intellect. Moral Norms, on the other hand, are the product of cultural evolution. For sure is a product of cultural evolution but is much more closely connected to religion!
I am not religious but I respect every religion. But for me religion is something private and has no place in society or to do with laws and rules.
These norms can change quickly, as shown by the way we deal with divorce, marijuana use, homosexuality, etc. in today's society.
Can a man have several wives? Why don't we just raid our neighbor's kitchen when we're hungry and our own refrigerator is empty? Is a man allowed to offer his partner or wife a friend or a stranger? Well, polygamy is just as forbidden in our society as theft. But there are countries where it's perfectly normal for a man to have several wives, and An Eskimo, as is known, offers his wife as hospitality to a stranger... Burglary, on the other hand, is considered reprehensible worldwide.
These examples show that people's values are similar - but can also differ. They are obviously influenced by culture and religion. So relative. It's better not to go to the judge alone. My friend...
But the question is: Where does morality gnereally come from? Is it perhaps in our genes?
It is interesting to know that today, science says that morality is not an adaptation to the environment that brought immediate benefits to humans, but rather a creative misuse in nature, of which there are many examples, such as feathers. They seem to have initially evolved to maintain the body temperature of animals. Later, however, birds also used them to fly.
However, this thesis contradicts the previous belief that the emergence of morality can be explained directly by evolution and human cicvilisation progress. This means that people have always lived socially, and social life means living according to rules, which means that this is the origin of morality, it can directly create an evolutionary and civilizational advantage.
But what is the most important fact for me, regardless of where morality comes from, is that "moral norms are changing". So let's stick to that fact and not see things so dogmatically.
