Chapter 1: how it started …
For last week or so I have been noticing a change in my wife’s behavior. In the beginning I just thought something might be bothering her at work or something; later on I noticed that she is really concerned with something. Then I thought her mother is coming here and she might be concerned about the long travel. But no , it was
something bigger ; couple of occasions I saw her looking in nowhere . I realized that there is something big and she is not able to discuss with me . Couple of days went by and her parents were here and this time they were planning to stay with us for 6 months . First few days were OK , but I again sensed something not right . I felt like there an elephant in the room which I am not aware of . Finally one fine evening while commuting to home I called my wife and pressed for her concern. She was a bit hesitant but later she asked me to meet at a coffee shop near our home . Honestly I was really anxious by her behavior. Unsure about what am I going to hear , I reached the coffee shop. My wife was already sitting at a table with a long face and she had ordered my usual coffee . Without wasting any time I simply asked “what’s up?” ; she looked down at her coffee stirring the already well stirred latte “ what’s up ?” I pressed again . She said “ Not sure how to begin , not sure how would you think of me and my mother “ . Me” You know I love your mother , so there is nothing to be afraid of . Just tell me frankly what’s sitting on your mind “ .She “ I of course know how well you treat my parents and that is the only reason I can discuss this . I can’t speak about this to anyone “ .Me “ what “this” about ?” .I hold her hands and squeeze. Me “ Tell me directly without playing scrabble “ .My wife took a deep breath ; probably finding the right words and said “ You need to keep an open mind and not to be judgemental “ .I nodded nervously. She continued “As per a ritual and horoscope of my mother , she needs to be with 2 men . I mean she should be married to 2 men at a time “ .I was expressionless… She continued “ If she doesn’t do that before she turns 60 ; let’s just say things may go wrong horribly for the entire family “ .“ Do you really believe in these stuff ? Really ??” Only words I could managed to spit out in my amused state . She said “ Unfortunately we do and we are not been able fight it out . You know my mom would be turning 60 and before that she should be married to another man “ .I was speechless and expressionless … there was couple of minutes of silence in which we both stared at each other . I was about to say “ so what now ?” But before I could spit out any word ; my said “ There is only one person I think is worthy of marry my mom and keeping the trust ; there is only one person who can save my family and that person is ..” Before I could say ; my wife said “ and person is you. I really want you to marry my mom . If this doesn’t happen something really terrible will happen . I beg of you .” Tears started rolling my wife’s wet eyes but I was stone faced . Another couple of minutes passed without any words being said .. my wife spoke “ I have already discussed this with my mom and everyone; although my mom was reluctant at the beginning ,she has accepted my proposal. And this is going to be just for one day and one night as it’s just as a ritual . You don’t really have to do anything . You know what I mean .“ I couldn’t believe what was going on ; I was being convinced by my wife to marry her own mother . “ Now everything is your hand ;I will not force you but if you do this I ready to practically become your slave . This means a lot to me “ This is was too much for me to digest and all I could say was “ I need sometime ; may be couple of days “ My wife was relieved , I guess , to hear at least words of consideration rather than an outright rejection . She said “ of course, I know this is a lot to take in …again I will never force you and I know you will make the right decision “ We sat there for few more awkward minutes and then both stood up . I said “ let’s go home now your parents must be waiting “ and we left from coffee shop . While driving back to hone , a mix bag of thoughts started going through. I wasn’t sure what do I need to do . I wasn’t prepared for this ; I guess nobody is ! I never considered this wild thought , never considered that my mother in law would be my own wife even for one hour , never thought that I can share my bed with my mother in law for one night as my own wife . This was twisted , wickedly twisted . I saw in wife’s eyes that she really meant everything and I saw how troubled she was . I suppose my mother in law would be troubled too . If I do this things may be better , may be tougher; but definitely not the same ever. After much deliberation I decided to accept my wife’s proposal . I felt proud that my wife and her mom trusted me for probably the weirdest thing in the world . I reached home . My wife was already home and she and her mother were waiting for me in the living room . I stood before them and looked at both faces . Both faces were mix of anxiety and shame . I really felt bad for both of them . I don’t know at this day and age how can one believe in any such strange rituals . By looking in to my wife’s eyes , I simply nodded . My wife’s face immediately turned relived and tears of relief rolled down . Then I looked at my mother in law’s eyes ,our eyes locked for a minute and in that minute I conveyed through my eyes that don’t worry I am here and am will to take you as my second wife for one day and one night . I saw tears rolling down from my mother in law’s eyes too . My mil nodded her head too . After this awkward scene I proceeded to go to the bedroom . I senses things have already changed for good . I came to my room and started changing my clothes . And I noticed that all the awkward moments in past hour has given me a hard erection .
