Hi everyone, this is the first time I am writing a story, though I read many stories in my life. I prefer to take this story to a long run, so the story may move slowly.

The wordings which is given in a bracket () denotes that the character is thinking them in their mind. Those which are not inside the brackets are the words that are spoken by the character.
Let’s get started.
It was a monsoon period during the month of November 2024. Chennai and its outskirts are flooded with water. Rains were ON for about 3 days all around the City. A crow is struggling to fly in this rain, she is flying hardly back to its nest. She is carrying food for her babies which is resting in her nest. She could not find her nest as the rain was heavy and the city is completely logged with water. She can see the aerial view of the City , which looks worser than ever and covered 80% of area covered only with water. She is flying high in the sky and can barely see a land mass area. But birds have a special navigation intelligence in-built inside their brains. She started using her navigation technology and recognized the tree where she built her nest and nested her eggs. After she recognized her home she immediately descend her altitude towards a tree and finally the crow landed in a tree which has grown in Palavakkam area in Chennai. The baby crows were making a happy sound on seeing their mother crow. The mother crow is happily feeding their babies. Then she turned her head all around the place. The huts and sheltars near around that area is damaged and destroyed in this heavy rain and high wind. The people living in that area have almost lost all their houses, household things, food like things and were struggling to cope up with this situation. Then the crow looked down the tree and found 2 people standing under the tree with polytene cover covered over their head.
They are none other than Muthu (age 45) and his wife Karpagam (age 41). They both are living in Palavakkam for almost 20 years by now. They are one of those families who lost their huts in this flood. Muthu is basically from a village called Essanai in Perambalur district in Tamil Nadu. He has moved to Chennai in 2004 for a job with his wife and daughter Meena. When he reached Chennai he has been searching for jobs but unable to find it so easily. So, he started working some minor labor jobs like daily wages in construction buildings, painting works, load man works etc., He then found a hut to stay with his family and started residing in the hut in Palavaakkam. Now he somewhat earned some money and built a house in his native village and planned to spend his old age in his native place itself.
Muthu: I never thought that we will be in this situation!
Karpagam: Yes! It is not just us, almost everyone in this City is struggling to cope up with this situation.
Muthu: I was been thinking that we go to our native place and settle over there. Now, our daughter has been married and she is living in the village next to our village. So, we will also go back! What do you think?
Karpagam: I was thinking that’s rights too. Now we have nothing here, everything has been destroyed in this rain and flood.
Muthu: Hmmm!!! I’ll do one thing. Once this situation gets better, I’ll go and meet Ramanathan sir in the colony and will inform him that we will quit the job and planning to go back to our native place.
Karpagam: Yes, but I’ll also come with you. We both are working for 15 years in that colony. Let’s meet them in person and tell this to them. They will understand.
The next day, the rain got reduced and the logged water is getting dried. Muthu and Karpagam is walking towards the Neelangarai area and reached the colony they have been working.
Sunshine colony (In 2024):
This is a group of residential buildings located in Neelangarai, Chennai. It’s a posh colony with basic amenities like UPS power backup, Emergency generator, Underground bore water with 24 hrs sump facilities, well maintained garden, car parking, CCTV, swimming pool, nearby groceries and veggies etc., The colony has 4 duplex houses as individual blocks. All the house owners are staying on their individual blocks, except one duplex house. This mini colony is built in 0.75 acres of land area with electronically operated common gate at the entrance and compound wall with sharp iron fencing. So, it is hard for any burglars to enter the compound over this fencing.
The only access to this colony is through the main gate, and the security should authorise to open the gate for someone to enter, but all the residents have their own access card to enter. Approaching from the gate, a small security room on the corner of the gate, which is provided with a small couch and CCTV storage setup. The interior road leads to the resident houses, with both sides of the road maintained by lawn. The front house on the right side is owned by a couple named Nilesh and Deepa who are NRIs, staying in Canada for their work. They visits India once a year, when they come to Chennai for a holiday, they will stay here for a month and then will go back.
The front house on the left side, is occupied by an elderly couple Ramanathan and Jamuna. Ramanathan aged 62 is a retired govt officer who worked in PWD department and Jamuna aged 57 is a housewife. Their son and daughter in law with their daughter settled in Sweden, they would visit their parents occasionally once a year or 2 years once. He is a kind of president for this colony and he is now maintaining all the activities and responsibilities.
Past these 2 houses, there is a swimming pool and then followed by rear left side house, occupied by Dr. Saravanan aged 36 and Pallavi aged 33. Saravanan was born and brought up in Chennai graduated in KMC and working in Rajiv Gandhi government hospital. They have a son name Bharath studying in nearby college. Pallavi was born and brought in a village near Coimbatore, and not a graduate. She ends her education in high college as she is failed in exams. As she is a relative to Saravanan, their parents arranged a marriage for them. Saravanan was not very interested in this marriage, but he accepted it for his parents. He feels that Pallavi is not match for him and she doesn’t know how to behave socially. Pallavi is a lean women with love and care towards her family. She is a good housewife, mother and home maker, keeps her home clean and neat all the time.
Finally the rear right side house owned by Dr. Prakash aged 37 and his wife Dr. Priyadharshini aged 34. They have two sons, Anand and Aravind. Anand is the eldest one aged 12 years studying in 8th class and Aravind is the youngest one aged 8 years, studying in 4th class. Dr. Prakash has completed his MMBS course in KMC in Chennai. Yes, what you all are thinking is right. Dr. Prakash and Dr. Saravanan were college mates. They were not just the college mates but also good friends. Prakash is working as a General Surgeon in JIPMER hospital in Pondicherry. He was given with a resident outhouse inside the hospital campus. His duty is from Monday till Friday usually, so he visits home every weekend. Though he have a car, he will not take it along with him during his travel from Chennai to Pondicherry and Pondicherry to Chennai. As he stays inside the hospital residents, he thinks it is not required for him, so he keeps the car at home in Chennai for his family’s need. The strange thing here is that Priya doesn’t know driving, so the car will be kept idle and will be used only during weekends. Though Priya insisted Prakash to go by car and keep the car with him as it is of no use to keep it idle at home, but he refused it and said let it be there for an emergency need if required.
