Sukanya walked to the door and looked into the door lens. It was Meena. She opened the door and invited her with a smile.
Sukanya: Come in akka.
Meena: Meena
Sukanya: Come in Meena.
Meena walked in and sat on the sofa in the hall.
Sukanya: I’ll bring you coffee. Please be seated.
She said and walked to the kitchen, just then Meena received a message on WhatsApp.
Sharath: I’m still waiting to be friends with Sukanya.
Sharath: Did you talk to her about me?
Meena looked back at Sukanya and closed the WhatsApp as Sukanya was making coffee. Just as she was about to get up and walk into the kitchen to make a conversation with her, the doorbell rang. Before Meena walked to the door, Sukanya walked to the door. When she opened, she saw Vimal standing at the entrance with a wide smile. Sukanya gave him a suggesting look to warn him of Meena’s presence. Meena looked at the door and found Vimal. He faces showed a grimace as she did not expect it.
Vimal: I saw that Meena’s door was locked. I guessed she’d be here. I guessed it right.
Sukanya: Come in (She said half-heartedly)
Vimal walked to the hall and sat on the sofa adjacent to Meena and gave her a smile. She gave a fake smile.
Sukanya: Would you like some coffee? (She asked Vimal)
Vimal: Really? I’d love to have one.
Sukanya hoped he’d refuse and leave, but he stayed. Vimal picked the TV remote and switched it on as Sukanya walked to the kitchen. Meena was looking at the TV without any attempt to strike a conversation with him. Meanwhile he pretended to cough.
Vimal: I’ll get some water (He said with a smile.)
He gleefully walked into the kitchen which Sukanya was not aware. Without a warning he slapped Sukanya’s ass, not so gently. She shrieked in shock and looked at him in anger. She signaled him to go the hall and he gave a sad pout. He retreated and Sukanya turned back to continue with her work. She was seething in anger as Vimal has grown so insolent. As she turned off the stove, unexpectedly Vimal hugged her from behind and squeezed her boobs, while he kissed her neck. She tried to free herself, but Vimal held her too tightly. He bent her forward on the kitchen counter and raised her nighty above her waist. He slipped her panty down. Everything happened so fast that she was left dazed. Sukanya struggled to free herself. Gaining all her strength, she kicked him away from her. She saw him with burning rage. When Vimal approached her, she gave him a tight slap which echoed the whole room. Luckily the TV was on high sound playing some jarry music that Meena might not have heard it. Vimal was shocked and stood frozen at his feet. He had tears in his eyes, but there was no remorse in Sukanya’s eyes. She adjusted her dress and peeked into the hall to look at Meena. She breathed a sigh of relief as Meena was focused on TV, but her heart kept beating at high pace. She then looked back at Vimal with a hateful look.
Sukanya: Just get out of here and don’t ever show me your face.
Vimal crumbled with the hate in Sukanya’s eyes. He read her lenience wrong and ventured beyond the limits. He paid for it. He walked out of the flat without even saying bye to Meena. Meena saw him walk away without any word and looked at Sukanya who carried a tray with two coffees.
Meena: What happened to Vimal? Why is he leaving.
Sukanya: I don’t know. (Sukanya flatly said which rather sounded rude.)
Both of them had their coffee in silence as both were lost in their own thoughts.
Thoughts:
Sukanya: I have never realized the danger of encouraging a young boy. He could have created havoc. Did I give him too much space?
Meena: This guy’s lust on Sukanya is increasing day by day. I wonder where this will end!
Both kept sipping their coffee without a word spoken. As Meena finished her coffee, she rose to leave.
Meena: Ok Suk. I’ll leave now. Will catch you later.
She came here to talk about Sharath to create a positive impression of him with her, but she felt it was not the right time.
As soon as Sukanya left, Sukanya shut the door and leaned on the door with her eyes shut. She was terrified at the thought of Meena catching a glimpse of Vimal molesting her. She contemplated about talking about it to her husband, but she knew that he was at a critical task and she did not want to be a hurdle to him.
Meena entered her flat in a deep worry. She wanted to talk about her thoughts with someone, but she didn’t have many friends. She just started making friends with Sukanya and he loved her, but her friendship with Sukanya was a ticking time bomb which may explode anytime. She really valued her friendship more than anything that she dreaded losing it. She picked her phone and checked her contacts to see if she could find someone with whom she can share her plight. She found none. She threw the phone on the bed and covered her face in agony. As she wept, she suddenly knew whom to talk to. She picked her phone and dialed a number and anticipated with bated breath. She thought her call will be left unanswered, but when she heard the click of the phone, she was suddenly clueless what to speak.
Receiver: Hello
Meena stayed silent as she was actually speechless.
Receiver: Hello. Who is this?
Receiver: Why don’t you answer?
Meena silently wept as she did not have the guts to speak.
Receiver: Meena dear. Is that you?
Meena: H… H… Hello aunty.
After she responded she only heard the sound of weeping at the other end. They had their burden relieved in the form of tears.
Receiver: I agree, I did an unforgivable mistake. Do you have to give me such a terrible punishment?
Meena: No aunty. It’s me who need to apologize. I should have understood that a mother pain of losing a son is more than a wife’s pain of losing a husband. I did behave unfairly rude. I know you held me responsible for your son’s death and I held you responsible for my husband’s death. After many days, I realized it was the fate that is to be blamed. But I was ashamed to face you after the way I behaved.
Aunty: I had tried my best to find you, but I did not even have any information about you. I’m so glad you called me. You are the only hope for me after my son. I wanted get you married to a nice man who could take care of you and my grandson, after my death.
She began to weep.
Meena: Please don’t cry.
Aunty: I’m so glad you called me.
Meena: Actually, I feel all alone and helpless. I couldn’t think of anyone at this time.
Aunty: What happened dear. Talk to me. I’m always with you.
Meena: As I was leading a solitary life with my son Rohan, I found a friend in the form of a neighbor. She trusts me a lot and I love her a lot. But…
Meena chocked and was unable to continue.
Aunty: Calm down dear. You can talk to me anything. I understand.
Meena: Actually, I’m being blackmailed to help someone manipulate Sukanya. I was forced to break my trust with her. I put her personal life at risk to save my own.
Aunty: What blackmail? Why and who?

Meena started weeping.
