Chapter 9
After laying Sonu down in bed, Radha turns to see Ashwin standing in the doorway, holding her undergarment and smelling it. When she meets his gaze, Radha leaves the bed and approaches the door. Ashwin intends to pull her out of the room as she draws near, but before he can act, she closes the door, leans her back against it, slides down to the floor, holds her legs, and starts crying. Ashwin hears her sobs and, not wanting to force her, goes to the kitchen to eat some breakfast leftovers and then leaves for the construction site. He desires her but doesn't want to rush things.
Hearing the car sound as it departs from the house, Radha realizes that Ashwin has left. She stands up, opens the door, and that's when Sonu mumbles in his drunken state.
Sonu: hey you radha i know youre fucking that town guy, my friends told me in the bar youre a whore can't control youre itching you bitch
Sona's words hurt Radha; she came out of the room, pondering why she had acted that way with Ashwin.
Radha's mind was filled with regret and frustration as she thought back to her wedding day. She had not wanted to marry the brutish man who had taken advantage of her, but her mother had taken away her right to choose her own life. On her wedding night, the man had come to her in a drunken state, ignoring her protests and tearing at her clothes. Let's cut to the chase, Radha said, looking directly into his eyes. What happened earlier was an accident. We should forget it for our own good. It's not right to think about it again.
Ashwin was stunned but tried to push the issue. Do you still consider it an accident if Sonu had not come?
Radha didn't have an answer and remained quiet. Ashwin continued, Look, Radha. I like you, but that doesn't mean I pity you or your life. Sonu doesn't deserve someone as beautiful as you. Don't waste your life with him. You like me; I know that from your gorgeous eyes.

Sonu confessed that he couldn't afford the pricey options, to which Ashwin offered him a foreign brand of wine that he had received as a gift. Sonu eagerly accepted the offer, and Ashwin explained that he wasn't much of a drinker but wanted to give his friend a taste of quality liquor. Sonu was initially hesitant to accept the costly gift but ultimately relented. Ashwin revealed that the wine was in his car, and Sonu asked him not to be angry with him as he fetched it.
